What's better: an 1800 on the SAT or a 28 on the ACT?
which one should i send to colleges?
3 réponsesStandards & Testingil y a 8 ansHow can you get to Medford, MA from New York City without a car?
Amtrak and Greyhound doesn't have a stop for Medford. Is there an alternate bus I can take? If not, how long would it take if I were to take a train there after arriving at Boston first?
3 réponsesBostonil y a 9 ansWhat can I do with a bachelors biomedical engineering degree?
In case I can't find a job as an official biomedical engineer after graduation, what are some examples of backup jobs I can do where I won't be paid as much but will still be doing something somewhat related to my field?
thanks
1 réponseEngineeringil y a 9 ansDo you have to major in finance in college to be a financial analyst or financial advisor?
Some of the colleges I'm looking into don't have a degree in finance available for undergrads..would a degree in other areas of business, such as economics or business administration also qualify me for a job as a financial analyst after I graduate?
thanks
3 réponsesFinancial Servicesil y a 9 ansHow many hours would it take to go from NYC to Chestnut Hill, MA by bus or train?
ok so nyc to boston is approximately 4 hours...how much longer would it be to go to chestnut hill?
1 réponseBostonil y a 9 ansWhich one has less math, electrical or mechanical engineering?
I know both of them involve a lot of math, but which one involves slightly less or easier math? Also, which one would be more related to biomedical engineering, which is where I ultimately want to end up?
thanks
3 réponsesEngineeringil y a 9 ansWhat is the best route to being a biomedical engineer?
I can either major in biomedical engineer as an undergrad, and then get a masters in biomedical engineering too, or I can major in mechanical engineering as an undergrad, and then get a masters in biomedical engineering.
I'm definitely more interested in biomedical engineering than mechanical and would probably have more fun studying it for undergrad, but I know that biomedical engineering is a much smaller field, and I've heard some employers would prefer to hire mechanical engineers even for biomedical engineering positions, because they think biomedical engineering is too broad.
Which route should I take to increase my chances of being able to find a job working in the biomedical industry when I graduate?
thanks
3 réponsesEngineeringil y a 9 ansCan I send my college applications and then send my ACT scores later?
I want to apply to several schools early action and send out my applications by November, but I was planning to take my ACT test on October 27, so it wouldn't be graded fast enough for me to send out with my applications. Is it okay if I send out my applications first, then my scores later, or would that affect my chances of being accepted?
thanks
6 réponsesHigher Education (University +)il y a 9 ansCan you work at home as a captive insurance agent, or is that only for individual insurance agents?
And typically, which kind of agent has a better chance of making more money?
2 réponsesInsuranceil y a 9 ansIs it a bad idea to double major in finance and pre-med in college?
I'm considering getting a bachelor's degree in finance and a degree in pharmacy. Would I kill myself by doing this, or is it manageable if I'm willing to put in the work?
thanks
2 réponsesHigher Education (University +)il y a 9 ansWhat does the sentence "To the right and left bushes of some sort, golden and crimson, glowed with the...?
colour, even it seemed burnt with the heat, of fire." mean?
It's a quote from Virginia Woolf's "A Room of One's Own", and I'm not sure if she's saying that she sees bushes that have bright colored leaves, or is something actually on fire?
The context doesn't really help, but it's:
Here then was I (call me Mary Beton, Mary Seton, Mary Carmichael or by any name you please - it is not a matter of any importance) sitting on the banks of a river a week or two ago in fine October weather, lost in thought. That collar I have spoken of, women and fiction, the need of coming to some conclusion on a subject that raises all sorts of prejudices and passions, bowed my head to the ground. To the right and left bushes of some sort, golden and crimson, glowed with the colour, even it seemed burnt with the heat, of fire. On the further bank the willows wept in perpetual lamentation, their hair about their shoulders.

3 réponsesWords & Wordplayil y a 9 ansWhat are some flute pieces that are good for college orchestra auditions?
I'm only allowed to play one piece, so I'm trying to find an advanced flute piece that would show a variety of techniques, such as being able to move around quickly but also to show quality of sound. I'm not allowed to use accompaniment, but I can play an accompanied piece without accompaniment.
thanks
1 réponsePerforming Artsil y a 9 ansWhat is usually considered "a few days"?
I sent an email to someone on Wednesday, and that person told me beforehand that it might take a few days for them to get back at me. Well now it's Sunday, so 5 days have passed, and I haven't gotten a response. I'm worried that my email never went through and went into the spam instead. So in America how many days do people mean when they say "a few"?
11 réponsesWords & Wordplayil y a 9 ansEvery few days, I keep getting notifications from Yahoo saying "Your account was accessed from a device we...?
did not recognize. If you did not access your account, please view your sign-in activity."
Every time I view my sign-in activity, I see that my account has been accessed from random countries such as Japan, Serbia, Hungary, Poland, etc. When I check my mail account, nothing has changed, they weren't any messages sent that weren't from me. Is this some kind of mistake or do all these scammers just leave my account alone once they find there's no valuable information in it?
please help thanks
1 réponsePassword and Sign Inil y a 9 ansIs it a good idea to ask this teacher for a recommendation for college?
She's my AP Biology teacher, and we have a pretty good relationship, but the bad thing is that I got a 75 in her class first term because of some bad test grades. It wasn't like I was lazy or anything, I just had a hard time with time management. This is the class I put the most effort in and yet got the lowest grade in. I'm pretty sure my grade increased to at least an 80 second term though. I'm also planning to study science in college, so I thought it would be natural to ask a science teacher. But should I not ask her just because I didn't do well first term?
3 réponsesHigher Education (University +)il y a 9 ansOn the Common App Arts Supplement, can you send in another essay along with your resume?
I have a cool story to tell about how I grew to love the flute, and I can’t use it on the common app because I already have another essay for that but demonstrates another side of me that's not about music.. I feel like writing another essay on my passion for music would make my resume a little more personal instead of just writing how many years I practiced my instrument and the musical activities I was involved in high school, but I don’t know if colleges would want that..
thanks
1 réponseHigher Education (University +)il y a 9 ansWill colleges hold it against me if I take the ACT instead of the SAT and live in the East Coast?
I know they're supposed to take both tests equally, but most people who take the ACT are from the mid west. Will they think it's weird that I sent in ACT scores and live in the East Coast? I think the ACT is a lot easier, so I want to take this instead if it doesn't hurt my chances of acceptance..
