How can you get to Medford, MA from New York City without a car?
Amtrak and Greyhound doesn't have a stop for Medford. Is there an alternate bus I can take? If not, how long would it take if I were to take a train there after arriving at Boston first?

take the commuter rail or orange line to North station
then either continue on orange line or take the green line and connect to red line at park street (downtown crossing with orange line) and then take red line to south station
from there take Amtrak to NYC (Penn Station)

Medford is the second train stop on the orange line coming out of North Station. So, ....5 minutes maybe?
Get a bus or Amtrak to South Station in Boston. Take the T (subway) from South station to North station, get on the orange line at north station.

Take Megabus, peterpanbus, or boltbus to Boston South Station. Walk over to the train side of the station and look for the Red Line. Go inbound one stop to Downtown Crossing. Switch to the Orange Line/Oak Grove, get off at Wellington Station.
OR take Amtrak to Boston Back Bay (not South Station) and switch to the Orange Line/ Oak Grove.
North and South Stations are not connected by a single subway line. Back Bay and North Station are.
