What happens to captured drug money?
I just got done watching an episode of "DEA" on Spike TV. In a lot of busts that the cops do, they come across a large sum of money (this last bust was nearly 1 million). I would really like to know what happens with this money for sure. My best guess is they check for counterfeit bills (surely a TON of that money is counterfeit), then deposit all of the legit money into the cities bank account. Just curious what REALLY happens. Any law enforcement personnel out there care to shed some light on this?

If it is counterfiet, then it is burned
if it is real, im sure plenty of it goes 'missing'

The DEA keeps it and spends it on 'the conflict on drugs' huge money maker for the government. maximum states do a similar, yet some placed the money interior the final fund. Boats and homes and autos are auctioned, yet some autos are stored via the business enterprise.
