for Canadian members : question about heritage;?

Hello. My French friend has her father established in Canada for years with a new family. He opted for Canadian nationality. My friend would like to know, in case her father dies, if she will ever be notified by Canadian authority (because his new family is not happy with her existence..) and also if she will be accounted for in his heritage (= will the Canadian authorities seak for any children of his own beyond the ocean ?)

As this question received no answers in the French Yahoo Q/A, I find it obvious to ask here.

Thx a lot for your replies.

Your French friend has no one who can be 'informed' and shouldn't assume she has any legal right to inherit anything at all......it would depend on how her fathers affairs are set up, jointly named with his wife and she will get everything. So if her father writes a Will, she maybe named, she may not be, if he dies without a Will, it will depend on what there is to inherit and that will depend if if the estate goes into Probate or not, if it does an administrator will be appointed to pay any debts and distribute any assets and so she will be found and contacted if she hasn't already been contacted to inform her of his death or doesn't know as she is not in contact with him
