German translator please help?
Can I use Wolfhohle for the English term wolfs lair or is that an incorrect translation??
I know now that Wolfsschanze is one translation, but I was told it actually is more accurately used as a military term than an actual wolfs den.
I also know that wolfsbau I think is another word I could use. Please help!! Thanks!
@Miharu; I used google translate for just the word "lair" and it translated it "hohle". So I'm not sure how accurate that is or if I could stick wolf in front of it and say it that way. I'm trying to come up with a name for my German Shepherd to use with a kennel name.
Maximus Von Wolfs Hohle
Maximus Vom Wolfshaus
Maximus Von Wolfsheim
Maximus Von Wolfsbau
I basically want to say Maximus from Wolfs Lair without using a Nazi term.

If it's meant to be a kennel name, you should listen to the sound of the name. The physical difference between Wolfsbau and Wolfshöhle is just the fact that a Bau is "self-made", while a Höhle can be a natural formation. But the sound of boths words is significantly different. In addition to this, names for dogs differ from a person's name.
Names for men can be Maximus von Wolfsbau or Maximus von Wolfshöhle. A dog would be named Maximus vom Wolfsbau or Maximus von der Wolfshöhle. This is changing the length and the sound of both options even more.
Maximus vom Wolfsbau: three m, six syllables
Maximus von der Wolfshöhle: More vowels, more syllables, more sound
Hope I could help :)

"Wolfsschanze" is a Nazi term: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf's_Lair
"Wolfshöhle" I have never heard of, even though I guess I could be used informally, or as an occasional synonym to the standard word:
"Wolfsbau". look for pictures under the entry "Wolfsbau" and you'll find plenty of corroboration.
