Is it hypocritical when preachers condemn smoking, drinking, etc.....?

and they are overweight or obese? Almost all the preachers you see on tv or even at churches nowadays are overweight. It is biblical about taking care of your body. Most of them talk about smoking, drinking, etc. as sinning. Is there a difference in your eyes? What do you think?

Okay, to answer your question... first of all, you say the majority of Pastors/ Preachers that you see on TV are overweight, this is not valid, this is an opinion, not truth, in fact they are not. Take Bishop TD Jakes for example, he was overweight, but he made an effort to lose the weight. The Bible never said it was a sin to be overweight, but the sin is in what you did to be overweight. Glutony is a sin, overindulgence in food is a sin, not taking care of your termple is a sin. Pastor's are not condeming when they are teaching God's word, you may be the one to feel condemed because you are not doing right, that's what happens when we are doing wrong.... or when we feel we are doing wrong. You say most preachers you see are overweight, well the majority of people in the United States are overweight, due to what's in our foods these days, but that's a whole nother subject, hope I answered your question.

You make a good point. It is something that they are seeking to address at the seminary I attend. Because Christians are often carefree as far as their looks go, they don't have that extra motivation to keep the weight off.

Personally, I am a little overweight. In the past year I've started eating much healthier and exercizing a few times a week. I've not been able to lose much (just about 10 pounds), but I haven't been gaining like I was before.

Glutteny is a sin of over eating. Most TV preachers were fit in their younger years but like most people "let themselves go" in later years. Is it sinning to get fat? I dunno. In Biblical times, they didnt have cars and all the "extras" that we have now nor the diet that we have now. It was much harder to get fat in those days. You HAD to over eat and be a lazy slob (glutteny and sloth) in order to be fat. Now it is so easy to be fat and harder to be fit. Am I defending them? You probably see it that way, but all I am trying to say is that if they preach against those other things but are gluttenous then that is a little hypocritical, but fat doesnt equal glutteny. Although, the true hypocrite preaches against smoking while actually smoking (for example).

For fit/skinny people to say that fat people are that way because the are gluttenous is just wrong. Many people have grown up with fast food diets. They dont overeat, they just eat small portions of food that is bad for you. We snack on candy and chips and then sit at a desk or in our car and dont get any exercise. If lived in a large city and had to walk everywhere just to get to places on time, then I wouldnt have to watch what I eat or when I eat nor my weight.

that's the job of the preacher to remind you God needs you physique to be organic,to look after your strategies, your physique could be organic. enable all issues that defile you be bumped off out of your strategies.God merely needs you to do perfect.yet you cant, do you realize why? The apostle Paul has comparable strategies .in the e book of Romans he has a conflict along with his sinful nature,he says he's regular with he has a subject with sin, he's regular with he choose for not be a occasion to it yet he's sinful by using and by using..Thank God for sending down Jesus ,merely in the nick of time. speaking of time. Its getting short!..you opt for the phobia of the Lord. what's the phobia of the Lord? on each occasion my sinful nature sways me in direction of somethang evil,I say to my self,What could God think of? what is going to take place if I do this? Will I be punished? That ,my pal is what we call God Fearing! via the way I consume like a chicken, yet i'm an excellent guy. some anybody is merely massive. God has made his peeps in all sizes and colorings. God loves sort. to speak some persons length is impolite. is this the excuse you're gonna tell God at Judgment day? nicely the preacher replaced into fat and that offended me. will that one wash..Oh Brutha..the place artwork tho? LOL I gotta consume some lunch and drink some espresso and artwork my backyard this afternoon...BBL

You are right they are all sins a defilement of the temple of God, that's what cracked me up about a group who knocked on my door and they dis fellowship people for smoking and both women were over weight big time that one had 3 chins. i really did it that time because I asked them why didn't they dis fellowship obese people! the session was over with because i told them that's a sin against the temple of god and it has been proven that being obese cause a lot of health problems. they have never been back.

Much like smoking, drinking and sinning, it is not right to be addicted to food. Its ok to like food but to be completely obsessed with food is a different story. You may notice many preachers with big bellys but you also have to remember, our population is known for having big bellys

My pastor has preached on gluttony before.

Most of the preachers I know are not obese.

I know only a couple preachers who are obese, but none of the preachers that I know claim to be perfect either. Preachers on TV are not representative of the typical preacher.

As Christians, we know we are not perfect, far from it. This is why we need Jesus' forgiveness.

Em yes being overweight is often due to greed. But not always. Sometimes it's a health condition. But if it's a health condition then they should be able to heal it, right? Because Jesus told his followers to be healers. So either way they're not cutting it.

Unfortunately, many religions today do not practice what they preach and they especially don't apply what the Bible teaches. After all, Jesus stated that this very thing would happen in Matthew 7:21-13 - "“Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness."

Its just not relative to salvation, everyone has their weaknesses and none (not even a preacher) is to judge the sin weakness of another or call them out on their sin as they themselves are sinful as well.
