Songbyrd JPA ✡
At 8:15 pm on August second, 2009, I hit 50,000 and now shall retire for a time. I have enjoyed my days here, but time to go and explore other things. So, good-bye, so long, and thanks for all the fish. JPA http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/jews-pagans-and-allies/
How great is it, that the old can meet the new?
The British Government has formally recognized the Druids as a religion. As half a Celt, I think it is great. As a Jew, with Pagan friends, it is about time. For, as far as I can see, nature always wins. I just nature in my G-d. Others find it where they may.
3 réponsesReligion & Spiritualityil y a 1 décennieWhat would have happened if Jesus had not died?
Many Christians believe that the Jews killed Jesus. Or more factually, that they got the Romans to do it.
What if they failed to do it. Jesus was released by the Romans, and was once more free to preach. What then? Does he grow old and die? The rises from the grave and then all the other stuff? Does he fight the Romans in the revolution in 72 CE? What happens?
And if in fact G-d made the Jews convince the Romans to kill Jesus, was it then the Jews fault?

12 réponsesReligion & Spiritualityil y a 1 décennieHaving an odd driving dream?
The last two weeks I keep having the same short dream. I am at a stop light, and about 10 feet from the car in front of me. My foot is off the brake and I am slowly rolling toward the car in front. My foot is stuck under a piece of cloth and I can't lift it to the brake. I am so afraid I will hit the car, but just before I do, I finally able to stop the car. Any input would be appreciated.
7 réponsesDream Interpretationil y a 1 décennieTo the Jewish people here. What do you plan to do during the holidays?
One year, I got called upon to address the congregation on what being Jewish meant to me, and how it related to the High holidays. I got up and approached the podium and had decided to open with humor. I spoke about my New Year Eve plans and how to deal with the hangover the next day. So much for Rosh Hashana, and then I talked about my day long BBQ on Yom Kippur. I got a laugh, and then got serious. I actually enjoy the fast.
Now, to add to this, 1) there is a question above. 2) The people here, mostly the JPAA/JPA has renewed feelings of why I love being Jewish. Shabot Shalom. Happy Holidays.

Several centuries ago, the Pope decreed that all the Jews in Italy had to convert to Catholicism or leave.
There was a huge outcry from the Jewish community, so the Pope offered a deal. He'd have a debate with a religious leader of the Jewish community. If the Jews won, they could stay in Italy; if the Pope won, they'd have to convert or leave.
The Jewish people met and picked an aged and wise rabbi to represent them in the debate. However, as the rabbi spoke no Italian, and the Pope spoke no Yiddish, they agreed that it would be a "silent" debate.
On the chosen day the Pope and rabbi sat opposite each other. The Pope raised his hand and showed three fingers. The rabbi looked back and raised one finger. Next, the Pope waved his finger around his head. The rabbi pointed to the ground where he sat. The Pope brought out a communion wafer and a chalice of wine. The rabbi pulled out an apple.
With that, the Pope stood up and declared himself beaten and said that the rabbi was too clever. The Jews could stay in Italy. Later the cardinals met with the Pope and asked him what had happened. The Pope said, 'First I held up three fingers to represent the Trinity. He responded by holding up a single finger to remind me there is still only one God common to both our beliefs. Then, I waved my finger around my head to show him that God was all around us. He responded by pointing to the ground to show that God was also right here with us. I pulled out the wine and wafer to show that God absolves us of all our sins. He pulled out an apple to remind me of the original sin. He bested me at every move and I could not continue.'
Meanwhile, the Jewish community gathered to ask the rabbi how he'd won. 'I haven't a clue' the rabbi said. 'First, he told me that we had three days to get out of Italy, so I gave him the finger. Then he told me that the whole country would be cleared of Jews, and I told him that we were staying right here'. 'And then what?' asked a woman.
'Who knows?' said the rabbi. 'He took out his lunch, so I took out mine.'
16 réponsesReligion & Spiritualityil y a 1 décennieQuestion about the Christian Trinity and how it works?
1. Is Jesus the son of G-d or a co-equal part, or something else?
2. If Jesus G-d, then he knew he was going to be crusified, then he never really died, so he never really rose from the dead, is that right or wrong? Did he only join the Trinity after? Was he cut off from G-d for the time he was on Earth?
3. I guess i am trying to figure out how G-d can die for our sins, if he cannot really die?
