How to get a doctor to tie my tubes?
I've been trying to get my tubes tied since the moment I turned 18. But of course, I have to wait until i'm older because, "I may regret the decision". Not that it's anyone business if I did.
Anyways, I always use 2 forms of birth control, the pill, and spermicide or a condom. A year back I switched pills and the condom broke so I fell pregnant. I had an abortion and even though I don't regret having that procedure for a second, i'd rather not to ever have another.
The idea of having a child terrifies me. I NEVER want one. The idea of it makes me sick to my stomach.
How can I convince a doctor to tie my tubes? I'm only 23 and I haven't had kids so they refuse.
Is it available in canada at a younget age and would they do even though i'm American?

Go to a pro life doctor and explain that any future pregnancies you will abort and tell him those deaths will be on his hands if he doesn't tie your tubes but do it in a non manipulative sounding way.

Canada and the US are pretty equivalent in their tendency to deny sterilization to younger women, plus it can be a hassle for Americans to get non-emergency treatment in Canada.
Go to planned parenthood. While most of them do not perform sterilization surgeries they will often keep a list of sterilization-friendly doctors. Some googling around might help you find someone local who is willing to do it on a younger patient.
In the mean time: ask for your request to be noted in your records. Repeat it at every subsequent visit. Use unemotive language.
And also maybe look into Nexplanon or an IUD. These are both EXTREMELY effective (Nexplanon may actually be more effective than getting your tubes tied) and much easier to get than the tubal.

Certainly in the US, it's up to the doctor. I think it is terribly unfortunate. Here is a really interesting article that will give you some of the doctors' perspectives on why they won't do it. It might help you with your approach to doctor #25 ;( That's awful. I hope you find someone. http://www.slate.com/articles/double_x/doublex/201...

To my knowledge they can't refuse you. A doctor may choose to not do it due to his/her personal beliefs but there is no law preventing you from having one.
Have you considered going to Planned Parenthood?
