Why don't create a federal entity which will unify the Western World with New York as its capital?
A Western federalism between USA, European Union, Australia, Canada and New Zealand able to establish itself as the dominant power for next centuries. New York, the largest city in the Western world located on the Atlantic coast could become the capital.
Almost the entire area of Chinese civilization is unified in the People's Republic of China. Almost the entire area of Indian civilization is unified in the Republic of India. Almost the entire area of Arab civilization is unified in the Arab League. Russia is trying to create the Eurasian Union.
In contrast, Western civilization is bound only by individual agreements (military: NATO, movement : abolition of entry visas, various economic agreements, etc ...). Should we not merge all the agreements and establish a joint federal entity able to speak with one voice against the rise of China and the future rise of other global powers? And longer-term deepen transatlantic movement involving monetary convergence?

Saying the entire western civilisation should unite is like saying the entirety of the Middle East or Asia should "unite", you think that's possible? Israel is different from Palestine, India is different from Pakistan, China is different from Japan, and the US is way different from even where you came from - the United Kingdoms.
Do you even know Europe? The Eurozone economic crisis is threatening to split up the EU, with countries like the UK already contemplating moving out, to save themselves from the economic repercussions of other EU states no less, a.k.a. Spain, Greece etc. France and Germany are trying to hold the whole thing together, but the French economy is in decline and reaching higher unemployment levels themselves.
On an EVEN SMALLER scale, even individual countries in the UK are threatening to split - Scotland is due to have an independence referendum vote in 2014, Wales is demanding more devolved power from Westminster to Cardiff, etc.
We can agree the EU is perhaps the most successful international union so far, yet even they are facing a crisis, how do you imagine combining Europe and America, who's across the Atlantic?
And New York? Why? Why not Brussels, Vancouver, Paris or London? Because the US is all so powerful and the "zenith of human civilisation", when you owe China 1.3 trillion dollars of debt?
Yeah, not going to happen.

It would have its benefits probably long term, but would have to overcome some serious pitfalls
