Do any American law firms look for European law students for internships?
I am a French EU law student in my fifth year of law school (out of 5) and I'm looking for a one year internship in the US. Do you know any firms that would be interested in having me? I'd rather work in a big city like San Francisco, Chicago, New York or Boston. I hope to make a living out of it, though I don't expect the "wine and dine".
Thanks in advance for your answers.
PS: I am preparing for the French BAR exam, that I hope to pass before to leave, but I would have to orgnaize my journey before to know the results (in November).
Besides, I've been studying Common Law and Comparative Law for two years within classes delivered by British and American professors and lawyers.

French law is extremely different from US law (although Louisiana is similar since it was a French colony). Plus, in the US there are over 50 different bars (each state has one in addition to the territories (although many states have reciprocity agreements with other states). And any firm that would give an internship would do so hoping that you would eventually work with them.
Not to mention that you would have to get the proper visas in order to do so.

Internships in law are predicated on the assumption that the law firm will hire you after graduation and after passing the BAR Examination in the state which the law firm operates.
5 years of French law cannot properly prepare you for United States law and vice versa.

The laws are different in different countries, so no they wouldn't be interested.
Even within the US, different states have different laws.
