Travelling from St Tropez to Nice Airport?
Hi. I'll be travelling to St Tropez with friends in August but I will be leaving 4 days earlier than everybody else which means making my own way back to Nice Airport. Seeing as I won't be driving what would be the easiest way to get to Nice? ( Bus, Train, Taxi) I know its quite a distance away. I suppose I could take a taxi but that would probably cost me quite a bit. Anyone know how much?
Help would be very appreciated.Thanks

Hi,
Taking a taxi from Saint-Tropez to Nice airport costs between 180€ and 200€

Otherwise, the second best option is to take a boat from St Tropez to Saint Raphaël, then a train to Nice airport. Going by boat to St Raphaël takes 1 hour and costs 14€ per person. During July and August, the boat is the best option as there are huge traffic jams on the roads (most of all between Saint Tropez and Sainte Maxime). If you take a taxi, there's no problem because the taxi drivers know the way by heart, they may take little roads if there's an important traffic jam and anyway, they have a fix rate.

There's no train station in St Tropez, the nearest train station is in Saint Raphaël Valescure.
If you don't want to take the boat, you can take a bus from St Tropez to Saint Raphaël, then a train to Nice. It's not the best option, it takes 2 hours minimum to go by bus from St Tropez to St Raphaël in August, dependng on the traffic.
It's the bus Varlib line 7601

** If you take a taxi, you have to book the car in advance, when booking, lie to the driver, tell him that your flight leaves 30' or 40' earlier, to make sure you'll be in time.
There are 2 lovely towns near Saint Tropez, Grimaud and Gassin. Also Ramatuelle is nice and have a good market.
From Gassin you can see amazing landscapes, most of all at sunset and also has very good restaurants, like "Au vieux Gassin" or "Le pescadou", both at Place deï Barri. Good value for money and much better than most of the restaurants of Saint Tropez.

Source(s) : French. I've got a villa in Sainte Maxime (15' by boat from St Tropez) and go there many times per year. I never took the bus, always a taxi but I only go from Ste Maxime to St Raphaël, then I take a fast train to Paris. - Anonymeil y a 6 ans

Again Tin answer is very good. Traffic along the Cote d'azure is always terrible this time of Year. Even on the a8 motorway,, its dodgy. There is some options, possibly the quickest way to get to st tropez is by the ferry. It departs Nice Port, You can take the bus from nice airport to gare routiere ( which is now basically nice city centre as they are demolishing it) and you take a bus from the city centre around place massena to the port.. or you could walk in half an hour, but with bags etc and i child, its a trek. The bus service is very cheap in nice, i think it 4-6 euro to the centre by bus, and all other routes in Alpes maritimes are one euro. You could also take a taxi to the port.. around 50-75 euro depending on traffic and you are lucky with the lights on the promenade:P The Boat takes 2 hours ( sometimes a little longer, often yacht traffic in and out of cannes) or so to st tropez, and stops in Cannes and Ile ste maugerite. I think another option is to take a bus to cannes and take the same boat from there. There is a train to st raphael from nice st augustine, which is near the airport. and take a bus to st tropez, I havent used this before, so not sure about the details, but the train should be around 30-40 euro and a bus is cheap. Taxi, you can Pay anything to st tropez, it all depends on traffic.. I think the best option, possibly even the cheapest is to rent a car from Nice airport for a day, and the same on your return. make sure when you book, the company has a returns office in st tropez. I recomend Sixt, they are reliable and honest, we always use them for our holidays. and they have an office in st tropez. The drive as tin said is scenic, or you can take the motorway which is quicker. it has one toll to st tropez around 3 euros. There is some options, basically baking up tins answer. Hope it helps..
