How do i find a star/constellation, if I know its RA and declination?
How do i find a star or a constellation, if I know its RA and Declination?
I know my current position in lat and long. I also have the RA and dec details for a star/constellation. Now how do I know if that star/constellation is going to be visible to me or not from my current position during the period of darkness.
Thanks

What I'd do is use Google Earth, then I'd use the Google Sky feature to find the spot in the sky we're talking about. When you move around your cursor in Google Sky, it shows you yer RA/Dec.
Now, as to when you can see it. Use a Star Chart, like the one in Heavens Above. Be sure to program in your location & timezone information, then mess with the dates & times on the star chart and you'll see when & where to look.
Give me your location (Just a city or county... for the love of God, DON'T put your address here!) and the RA/Dec and I'll get you close.
Below is a Heavens Above link for Perry, OH (20 miles East of Cleavland)
