Jesus warned us about this, so it shouldn't be a surprise to any of us. In John 15:19-20 Jesus said, "If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.... If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you."

Everybody feels persecuted, because everyone loves to cry over oneself, a true Christian welcomes persecutions and doesn't complain about it but rejoice in them.
