Las Vegas actually has some of the best hotels in the world. You will not have to worry about cleanliness if you stay at places like the Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn/Encore, Palazzo, Aria, Mandalay Bay or Caesars Palace or Paris.

There are no direct flights from France but Delta Airlines will be a good choice. Most flight from Europe will make their first stop at Chicago and then connect to Las Vegas. Here is some information about Vegas, where to stay, how to get around, things to do, etc.

Personally I like the Venetian better than Caesar's. Bellagio is nice too though. They have an awesome champagne brunch and it really isn't too expensive. But, I usually stay at either the Venetian or the Hard Rock. Love the Hard Rock, but it is off the strip. You'd need to take a taxi. That's fine though because it really doesn't cost that much, it's just that traffic is a pain. I don't really have any recommendations for airlines. I fly Allegant because it is the cheapest from Oregon. I think overall you'd probably like Bellagio the best. That way you can take the trams to the different casinos.

What you want to do is from the airport have the taxi driver stop at either a gas station or a grocery store and stock up on bottled water and other drinks and snacks. Vegas can be pretty expensive. So, you can save a ton of money by just picking up the extra little things at the grocery store. The taxi drivers do it all the time.

Hope this helps. Have a wonderful time!

I would choose Delta for your flight - they are a good airline, with a good reputation.

As for hotel, Bellagio and Caesars are both very nice. Bellagio is more expensive and upscale, but Caesars is a wonderful place. Both have great pool areas, and are in a great location. Another nice hotel is Venetian/Palazzo - the rooms there are all suites. You won't be disappointed with any of those three.

Yes, tipping is very common in the US. You should tip your taxi or shuttle driver a few dollars, and it is customary to provide a 20% tip at restaurants where you sit down and are served. If a cocktail waitress brings you a free drink in the casino, you should tip her $1. You should also give $1 to a doorman who gets you a taxi, and $1 per bag if a bellman assists you with them.

You should look into seeing a show while in Vegas - there are wonderful shows, and something for everyone. There are also many restaurants, so consider booking a nice dinner for his birthday. There is a nice restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere tower that revolves. You might not be interested in the French restaurants, but Paris hotel has the Eiffel Tower restaurant and Mon Ami Gabi, both of which are very nice.

Definitely check out the Bellagio fountain show, the Mirage volcanoes, and the Treasure Island pirate show.

The conservatory inside Bellagio is beautiful.

Madamme Tussaud's wax museum is really neat

If you like animals, you should check out the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, the Lion Exhibit at MGM (free), and the Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat at Mirage.

There is also great shopping in Vegas, particularly in the shops at Venetian and Caesars.

    I would take Delta!!!

All Vegas hotel casinos are clean, so pick the best price for the room since you won't spend that much time in the room.

Here is information to decide which hotel to take, but know the Striop is 3.8 miles long, there is always a CAT bus or a taxi if you get tired of walking.

CORNER - Tropicana, MGM Grand, NYNY, Monte Carlo, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay

BETWEEN CORNERS - City Center Aria

CORNER - Bally's, Paris, Bills, Flamingo, Caesars Palace, Bellagio

    BETWEENS CORNERS - Planet Hollywood

CORNER - Wynn, Encore, Venetian, Palazzo, Mirage, Treasure Island

OTHER - Circus Circus, Riveria, Sahara

Stratosphere is NOT on Strip and not area you want to walk at dark. Hard Rock is NOT on Strip and a very long ways away and not walking distance.

    TIPPING

Give $1 per bag is bellman takes to room

Give $1 per drink when you are gambling (free drinks)

Give 15% for restaurants if good service

Give $1 breakfast $2 lunch, $3 dinner at buffet

Give dealer $1 if you win big on hand

You don't have to tip, just part of the Vegas culture since most employees make minimum wage. You don't tip at shows unless you order drink.

Your culture is not that different. Just watch out for pickpockets, people giving flyers (just ignore do not take) for girls to come to room, and time share sales.

You've been given alot of great info. My hotel choices would be Bellagio or Caesars. Both excellent. Go with Delta airlines. Tipping for cab rides a couple dollars. Sit down dinner 15-20% of the bill total.

If you have the time check into a bus or helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon,
