What version or translation of the bible do you read?

When I used to read, I read the Living Translation.

Amplified Bible is cool, i like it yet each so often i'm getting a sprint distracted with the excellent descriptive nature of it. NIV is a surprisingly sparkling examine. i admire the NKJV, it keeps the poetic and lyrical tenor to the writings. Revised commonplace is first rate. I nevertheless have not warmed as much as the Message. I by no potential had plenty project know-how KJV in uncomplicated terms with the aid of fact i became right into an excellent fan of Shakespeare and that i understood the sentence and word structures conveniently. ok... sorry if it became into too plenty documents. yet I do wish you get some useful solutions. thank you for being cool.

I am trying to read as many scholarly translations as possible. My favorite (so far) is The New Jerusalem Bible, Regular Edition. See why here http://www.jimpettis.com/bibles/njb.htm

I prefer the New Testament in the original Greek myself. Makes it a lot less difficult to see the changes that have been made, comparisons of writing styles, where things have been added, where different writers were combined into one story. The differences in writing styles in Paul's letters showing different authors.

The Hebrew bible I prefer a truly Jewish copy. There's no agenda to make things fit the New Testament.

I like the NASB (New American Standard Bible) for study, because their NT translation is supposed to be the closest to the original Greek.

But I also read the Message for modern day contextualization.

I use the NWT for reading in general. For study, I visit a couple of websites that will give me the version of any verse from maybe 10 different translations. It's very helpful.
