"...I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth." - Job (Job 19:25) "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." - Jesus the Christ

I'm interested in what Christians think about this subject. I already know what the postmodern and feminists unbelievers think.
23 réponsesReligion & Spiritualityil y a 7 ansChristians, if God doesn't share His glory...?
with others like some preach, then why would the Apostle Paul and the Apostle Peter write in their letters that we are not to lose heart during difficult times because of the glory that will be revealed in us? Why would they use glory as a motivating factor in enduring hardship?
"Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing FOR US an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal."

7 réponsesReligion & Spiritualityil y a 7 ansChristians, is being "thin skinned" or overly-sensitive...?
an expression of carnality or sinfulness?
I recently heard someone say that being over sensitive was fleshly and carnal.
I've wondered about that.
In my view it seems that may be true. I don't know. Some people who are narcissistic seem to get their feelings hurt too easily.
But then others who aren't as narcissistic but just have a sensing style of personality seem to be more prone to getting their feelings hurt.
And then others who don't know they're deeply loved and valued by God and others seem very sensitive to any form of criticism, negative feedback, or even differing of opinions.
What do you think? Is being "thin skinned" a sign of carnality or sinfulness? Or is it something else?

7 réponsesReligion & Spiritualityil y a 7 ansChristians, how do these verses?
apply to us today? Clearly many of us are Gentile Christians with no Jewish background.
"If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ." (Phil 3:4-7)
What are some things we Gentile Christians put our confidence in instead of Christ?

10 réponsesReligion & Spiritualityil y a 7 ansChristians, what do you think of this statement?
Recently a friend of mine commented when talking about the many and different problems within the church today -
"Everything that is in the world, is in the church."
When it comes to the problems, issues, and sins in the church today, do you think my friend's statement is accurate?
12 réponsesReligion & Spiritualityil y a 7 ansChristians, why did Solomon...?
take the "If you...then..." approach when he sought to advise his son on important things in life? Why didn't he just tell him, "Do this!" or "You had better..."? Why did he take the "If then approach" when advising him in Prov. 2? What was he showing his son by such an approach?
