layers of 7 layer bars?
Is butter seriously a layer? Cause, come on, butter as a layer by itself? Maybe it should be renamed 7 ingredients bar.

If you look at the traditional recipes for 7 layer bars, you will see they all have (going from the bottom of the bar to the top):
Graham Cracker Crumbs mixed with butter
Condensed milk
Butterscotch chips
Chocolate chips
Flaked coconut
Pecans
There may be variations on this with other tips of chips added or more nuts added but this is the traditional recipes. So since it is called a 7 layer bar and above we count 7 ingredients, butter must be one of the layers. However, I do agree that perhaps we should more appropriately name these bars "7 bars" or "7 ingredient bars" or maybe on a twist "heaven 7 bars" (hmmm, I kind of like that last name . . .).

Butter is not a layer!! There are so many different kinds of 7 layer bars! Here's a link that was really good at all the different kinds of layers!

Because you should layer the other ingredients over the melted butter. But I understand your point.
