You must be young and have not seen people you went to high school with that have degrees and are underpaid. Then seeing people without degrees making more money. This is not always the case but it happens. Honestly, I met lots of people that were not book smart and make more money than college graduates. I know lots of people that make over six figures with no degree. They are world traveled. They buy their kids new cars every year. Education is not the be and end all. I have had teachers with PHDs that teach at a community college making 10$ a hour. Thats because you can have an idea but if that idea producing nothing it wont make money. NOT everything in education is producing anything. An example would be feminism studies. Just teaching that women are repressed does nothing for the job market. It does not make jobs it is not suppling anything. It is not in demand most people dont want to read books about women being repressed. It is melancholy.  If you want to make money do two things. 1. produce something. This could be jobs in a business. This could be an idea. Look at the people who invented a duck whistle. They made millions off of coming up with something people would buy that sounds like a duck. This is something that is in demand.  2. Have in demand skill that a lot of people cant do. I took sign language in college to find out you dont need a degree to be a sign language interpreter. You can teach yourself and take the state board. I found out there is not a suffice amount of interpreters. They make their own hours. It pays well. The deaf community considers it their culture they never change their deafness. Or even owning a lawn business, they cut my lawn it cost 20$ every time. They take less than twenty minutes.   Find out what your passion is and chase it. Or chase the money and do a job most wont do. this take creativity on your part and finding yourself

Move to California where minimum wage is a little over $30,000 and do just about any job that pays more than minimum wage.

You are never too stupid or too poor to .learn. If you want to go to school, put your backbone into it and make it happen.

If you don't think you are college material, then you need to learn some other skill.  It could be sales, plumbing, bicycle repair.  You need to figure out what you enjoy and are good at.  Good luck.

Did you receive a high school diploma or earn a GED?  If so, you can attend a nearby community college, using a government grant to cover a lot of your expenses, and take courses in the "trades", such as electrician, plumber, HVAC technician, CDL truck driver, and a lot more.

Construction jobs pay pretty well. You can try to get into an apprenticeship program.
