Let your hair be loose and wavy. Waves are all the fashion right now and the style is to use heat curling irons to put waves into naturally straight hair. So stop straightening your hair -it's no longer in style and your hair will thank you for it. You've already got what everyone wants - so work it and own it. If you want to keep some of it off your face look for sparkling clips to hold some back. and braids? Really? are we six years old? How about a more modern up do, a modern loose ponytail or a modern loose partial updo?

Wavy and in a nice up do. If it's a formal occasion then braids are a bit too casual.
