What to do after Ingrown Toenail Removal surgery?

Question

After suffering pain from an ingrown toenail for almost a year, I finally went to the podiatrist to get it removed. I thought Gold Bond foot cream would do the trick, boy was I wrong.

The podiatrist only told me to continue washing my feet with Epsom Salt & to come back in a week to see if its healing correctly.

Do I have to unwrap the bandage or the bandage stays on?

During the healing process, will there be pain?

bandage off to wash, but clean one on after, some pain. sounds all reasonable advice to me.

When I had this done I soaked my foot (and thumb one time) in very warm water with ivory dish soap (added after filling the basin so it doesn't bubble up). Some times I had to soak the bandage off, then would redress the toe with neosporin and taped gauze. The dish soap water cleans and helps dry the wound, the neosporin is an antibiotic ointment. I never had any complications doing it this way.

Shithead, do not use Epsom salts. Keep your injury dry and clean. Remove the bandages everyday use Bedadine to keep it disenfected. Replace the bandages every once in awhile. Pain should be minimal if you stay off your feet and don't hit it.

you mean they didn't instruct you on how to proprly cut your toenails even after surgery ?!  wow, smart idiots......maybe they hope you come back for more surgery so they make more money....

do as the doctor says and treat it with salt and water
i've had them multiple times, both coming in and removed, so they don't hurt me much

call the doctor's office and say that you have a question.  They will connect you with someone, probably the doctor's nurse, who can answer your questions.
