After 12 years, 16 seasons, I quit football due to the dangers of head trauma. But...?
After I learned how dangerous football really was for your head, I quit. I gave up my scholarship and moved 2,000 miles back home. Biggest decision of my life. I never stopped loving football. I didn t want to quit, but after learning how dangerous it was, I was genuinely scared to play. Now I m missing it like crazy, I want to be back on the field so badly, I just wish it wasn t so bad for your head. I need something to fill this emptiness. I just wanted to get suggestions from people I don t know. What do you think?

You could always try another sport with less risk of head trauma. I don't blame you for not wanting to continue. Martial arts can be a good outlet, just be sure to avoid heavy sparring or you will run into the same issue. Jiu Jitsu i think would be the safest as theres no striking involved. I've heard good things about crossfit as well.

I highly encourage you to rejoin your college football team this upcoming season. It will still not (yet) be too late for you to start playing football again.
My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this summer (and every offseason) is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch college football player, as well as greatly reduce your risk of suffering a head injury.
