Cruise deposit?
Is the deposit for my cruise an additional fee on top of the price for the cruise itself?
For example. The cost of my cruise is around 2000. So if the deposit is 250, would I pay 2500?

It's part of the ticket price.
So after laying $250 deposit, you will still have to pay the balance if @$1750.
Do note though there are add ons, gratuities/tips, excursion charges, service charges etc that can be added to your overall bill

Like anything you buy a deposit is like a down payment. What you put down will go towards the cruise when final payment is due. Once final payment is due, deposits are not refundable. Cruises have a specific time period of when you can cancel and get your deposit back.. Just read the cruise ship contract to find out when that is. It will be around 90 days in advance of sailing.

It's a deposit based on the cost of the cruise itself. It's there in case you don't complete the transaction. (That is, it might not be refundable or recoverable.) The price you've been given is all you need to pay (except when you use extra facilities or options available on the cruise, which are charged on top of the price of the cruise).
Be careful, though. Some of the things you want to do on a cruise are extras and options, and may cost you more than you think.
