Car blowing white smoke?
I cleaned my air intake. Put it back in. Now tons of white smoke comes out of the tail pipe when I press the gas, it sputters a little when driving. Sometimes won't go up in rpms or speed. It's not overheating and doesn't sound funny when just idling. Manual tranny. Help! Thank you.

More than likely the white smoke is just the cleaner you used being burnt in the exhaust system. This should go away after you drive around and let the exhaust system reach full operating temperature. However if you are loosing coolant with no apparent leak then this could be you have a blown head gasket. Keep an eye on the coolant level and your oil level which will be overfull if you do have a blown head gasket. Do not keep driving if this white smoke persists or you will destroy your engine.

Well there are two fools that think you some how blown the head gasket when you only cleaned the filter housing. Now go back and dry the water out of the housing before more fools tell you it is the head gasket.

Hi so as you don't mention it. this would be normal when the engine is cold and warming up however when it is at working temperature it is the sign of a blown head gasket. nothing to do with cleaning out a air filter. that was just a conincidence when it occurred i bet.
