What are the pros and cons of purchasing a pre-owned 2013 or a 2014 VOLKSWAGEN Beetle from a dealership?
I am a widow. My children are adults. I work a full time and a part time job.

As I am sure U like the styling of the Beetle, U would be better off buying a car with little or no maintenance issues. Volkswagen's are notorious for mechanical problems and I would look at Honda, Toyota and Hyundai. Before U purchase a car, I would check Consumer Report magazine for their perspective. Another thing that the 2014 VW is on the used car lot for a reason. Just saying.

Warranty is the pro, as for a '14 being on the lot, it can be a demonstrator, which will mean full warranty, or someone could not afford to make the note, then there will be the difference of warranty.
Cons- they will try to get you to pay full advertised price, negotiate.

don't get a car from a dealship. it is more expensive and you will likely lose money when you sell it.
