Not always. For instance: Victoria's Secret sells lingerie and clothing. I have bought VS products and spent quite a bit of money on them. After a while, I found that the products were not better than other, less expensive brands.

Some brands specialize in a product. Usually these brands are made better than others and are worth the cost because they are superior products.

However, other brands are not great quality in comparison to what the cost is. You see, consumers pay for the advertising and absorb the high incomes for the models through the prices they pay for a product. For instance Louis Vuitton. This is a plastic pocketbook that sells for hundreds upon hundreds of dollars. It has the initials LV all over it. Why someone would pay hundreds of dollars for a plastic pocket book with someone elses initials all over it is just crazy. I suppose some people will buy anything as a status symbol!!

No Name bargain bleach usually is watered down 50%. So buying Clorox is a bargain. No-name Gasoline stations offer 85 or 86 % octane while the better brands offer 88% which gets my car 5-8 miles further a gallon. A smart shopper learns what labels are useful and what are meaningless. Tide is a terrible wash powder but has the most popular FRAGRANCE. If clean close mean less than sweet smelling clothes you buy Tide. Otherwise you buy one of the cheaper brands that clean better. No Name soaps don't smell good OR clean effectively.

This is a true story I once bought shoes for 10 cents. These were pretty shoes cream-white color with crosses spread over each at the front, almost like hot-cross bun crosses. Someone in town ran to me asking where I bought them. Nearly gave them to her off my own feet. I've at times been lambasted for "not caring about brands". According to me if the outfit is pretty enough it is worthy no matter who made it. But to each his own.

Brands are very nice, but it depends on the situation.

Not unless youre getting something extra. Mainly they are just about separating the weak minded from their money.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Usually not, in my opinion.
