Medicine for chronic laryngitis?
I am having chronic laryngitis due to excessive singing (no allergy or infection). Apart from rest, steaming, home remedies like honey etc, is there a MEDICINE that could help.
I would be very grateful for any information on this.

"Typical treatment for both acute and chronic laryngitis involves a short period of vocal rest or incorporation of vocal "naps" throughout the day, followed by identification and modification of the causative factors. When a performance or presentation cannot be postponed, it is possible for the otolaryngologist to prepare the patient for the performance with the use of laryngeal spray solutions or corticosteroids that diminish laryngeal sensitivity and reduce congestion and edema. This treatment is usually considered if a period of vocal rest is available after the performance. Because of the high risk of more serious laryngeal damage, this treatment is only used when it is absolutely necessary that the patient perform."

General healthy practices will help you to avoid chronic laryngitis. Washing your hands and avoiding contact with others who have the flu or cold will limit the risk of catching a virus. If you use your voice excessively for a living, take frequent breaks to reduce the possibility of inflammation. Avoid working in locations that constantly expose you to harsh chemicals. If you smoke, quitting immediately will greatly lower your risk for the condition.
