Is there an easier way to put on tire chains?
Maybe draping them on the tire before rolling onto them rather then lining them out. Maybe hook bungee cords on the chain locks ( maybe the chain links so you could fit them like a tire sock. Has anybody tried other ways of doing it and how did they work out?

I already have the highest rated snow tires, it's just that the ruts left by the garbage trucks and recycling trucks makes the road nearly impassable, you see cars and even tow trucks stuck every day but there's no problems with the chains. The city announced a city wide clearing but it will take weeks to do and they already did our street but it snowed again plus the garbage and recycling trucks came just after the snow so it's far worse now.
The number 1 and 2 streets are plowed to the asphalt so you have to take off the chains as soon as you hit pavement otherwise you're stuck at driving at a low speed so the chains have to go on and off quickly. I looked for autosocks which are easier to put on and off but they would have to be ordered in.

I know I'm late on answering this. But since you don't have an answer that's appropriate.
I don't know what type you have. I chain up heavy trucks frequently in winter.
Drape the chains over your axle you want to chain up. Depending where the hook end is drive the other away. Away from the hook ends. About 1/4 - 1/3 of a turn. Fasten the insides of the tire then the outsides. Drive about 150 ft and retighten. Keep the slack out. Once on keep you speeds down. The faster you go the more they will stretch.. They should handle typical city speeds fine.
