Will the new San Francisco cruise terminal bring more vessels to SF?
What a fabulous city and cruise destination that only has one part-time anchor..Princess. Yeah, I see an odd boat from time to time from my balcony, but very few. And it is one of the few destination cities that you can actually walk off the ship and be in the city. Gay cruises don't even depart from here. What's that about?

Yes more ships will most likely arrive once the terminal is complete. It is long overdue as I saw this need years ago.
BTW no cruise ship is made up of entirely gays or any one group as that would amount to about 3,000 people or more. But as a group you often see gays, or a cruisecritic group or any other type of group you can think of

The current schedule from 2014 and beyond has 1-2 ships in port a week for the next several years Chris. The economy dictates how people spend money, travel etc and everything looks bright for the coming years. SF in general has no problem attracting tourists.
You will see many cruise trends currently in Florida like cruise with a Chef, a singles cruise, gay cruises eventually migrate to SF and LA.
One of the best kept travel secrets is repositioning cruises for 1/2 price from Alaska or Vancouver to SF. All the info is buried on the ships website.

In a word, no (imho). As a cruise port, San Francisco is a very long way away from any well-known destinations - think Mexican Riviera, Alaska, and Hawaii. Though everywhere's a long way from Hawaii ;). Seattle/Vancouver will always have the edge for Alaska, and LA for Mexico. Though I do see that Princess is running 4 'California Coastal' cruises this year see http://www.cruisetimetables.com/cruises-from-san-f... and if this type of itinerary draws much interest, other cruiselines may follow.
