How can I get my 3 toed box turtle to eat greens? All he wants to do is eat crickets.?
I just got him. He is probably 3 years old. His shell is very dry and scaly. He now lives in a giant box enclosure with a heat/UV lamp. I fed him 10 crickets and he gobbled them up. The next few days I offered him kale, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower but he wont eat any of them. I waited two days and gave him some more crickets. I am afraid he will starve

My experience with my Three Toed is the same as Dion J. It is the rare time that he will take greens and only then when he has not had any insects/ worms for a couple days. I now chop some greens very fine and mix them with his fruit so he gets a bit that way. .
Make sure he has a wide shallow dish. Mine loves to soak and I often find him in the water.

Although three-toed box turtles will occasionally eat greens, they are not a favorite item. They much prefer insects and fruit, especially younger specimens like yours.
I have some three-toed box turtles that I have had for about 25 years. Although I sometimes offer them greens, they seldom if ever will eat it.
