Does a 22 inch 1080p TV make sense?
Insignia (Best Buy house brand) makes one model TV 22" with 1080p resolution. All other models below 32" are 720p. Does this make sense? Surpsingly it is the second cheapest TV model they sell. How can that be?

1. 720p and 1080p can be distinguished if and only if Blu ray discs are being played and watched at a very short distance from the TV.
2. If you play Blu ray discs and watch the TV from a normal viewing distance, you will not see any difference between 720p and 1080p.
3. As all channels broadcast in 1080i format which is almost equivalent to 720p, so it makes sense to buy a 1080p TV only if you plan to see Blu Ray discs content.
4. Last, 22 inches are products of the bygone era. Buy at least a 32 inch TV. But personally I would advise you to get a 42 inch TV as it always feels good watching content on a big TV.

With modern manufacturing techniques, making a small 1080p screen is not especially difficult or expensive, so it's normal to see them at low prices.
That said, you're not going to see any difference on a screen that small between 720p and 1080p. For general video viewing, it only becomes noticeable on screens somewhere above 37 inches.
Side note: Insignia TVs are cheap for a reason. If you buy one, don't expect superior performance or reliability over time. Insignias are what Best Buy sells you if they can't talk you into something better, which is just about anything else that they have.
