Never listen statement is common and a difficult one. Firstly people in general do not listen. Strong evidence is the high number of young people who make many avoidable disastrous mistakes in their lives all could of been avoided by listening.(Almost all)

Point 1 - We always need to re examine ourselves as to not listening as it is common not to listen and we are governed by emotions, belief and prejudice rather than reason. We also can switch off. So yes you may not of been listening and understanding.
