TV cable modem inefficient?
It seems like the modem supplied by my cable company is inherently inefficient. Because the signal goes in through a coaxial and doesn't come out, you must split the signal as it comes into the house. So even if you only have one TV you lose 3 dB. If you have 2-3 televisions you must lose at least 6 dB, and even more if you have more televisions. Am I missing something, or can you design a lossless cable modem.

Anytime a signal is split there are inherent loss in signal strength.
Even high end cable splitters such as this $13.00 one from monster have a 3 to 5 dB loss per connection. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Y97Q86/ref=as...
Normally this is not a problem as there is ample signal to allow a few splitters to be installed.
If the signal needs to go to many locations, then signal boosters or booster / splitters such as this are installed. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WDR94U/ref=as...
Good Luck...

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.getpchealthboost.com/
It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

properly, the only "issues" I see are which you're completely underestimating the fee of a solid, severe high quality sound card. get rid of that onboard crap and get a sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty sequence. that is lots, lots greater suited. additionally your video enjoying cards are somewhat underpowered whilst in comparison with the CPU. i could propose a pair of GeForce 260 GTXs in case you could cope with to pay for it.
