Why are we getting so much Amazon spam?

Just about every question I see asked in the cameras section is now getting a "Amazon Top Holiday deals are crazy... Make sure you don't miss it." spammer. Last week it was cyber Monday crap.

Why are all of these spammers hitting Yahoo Answers at the moment? Are Amazon doing some sort of referral scheme?

What's the best way to get rid of this new wave of spam? I've started reporting the spammers but I'm not sure it's making any difference.

It's a spam bot, apparently, so it's a little like trying to bail the ocean with a teaspoon. However, I do encourage you to report it as spam (top button) because that will help build your trusted reporter rating, and pretty soon, those spam answers will fall with a single report.

You can also copy and paste the profile to the "latest official spam battle thread", which is permanently at the top of the suggestion board: http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&...

Because people just thumbs down stuff, instead of reporting it.

Thumbs down doesnt do a thing.

    Dont bother reporting each abuse

Just click on the user's avatar

Then post the users link on the spam fighters thread, on the suggestion board

It self explanatory, once you see what they attempt to do there.

That gets rid of them and all their posts.

(You can access the suggestion board thru the About tab ).

Yeah I know. I can't believe this is coming from Amazon though.

For Amazon UK, I believe that the page for stopping their e-mail is this one:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...720155-9432...

    Then choose 'Update Communication Preferences'.

Let me know if this solves your problem.
