CO detectors placement?

Where should the CO detectors be placed when installing them in a home? Smoke detectors are near the peak of the ceiling but is CO heavier than air and thus the detector should be placed low in sleeping areas? Thanks for the input.

I have one that plugs in a receptacle, it doesn't have to be high in the ceiling. CO detectors should be placed near bedrooms so if they go off you can hear them. There should also be one installed on each level of multi-level homes. Read this from my co detector manual.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is slightly lighter than air, so you can put a CO detector higher up on the walls or on the ceiling.

Dougie is correct. Anywhere on the wall will do. But you really don't want to drill holes in your wall, so get a plug in unit with a battery back-up and install it just outside your bedroom in an electrical outlet.

CO is often borne by warm air from the failed appliance, making it more likely to rise in normal air. Also, CO is slightly lighter than air, so it will naturally accumulate near the ceiling, eventually.

Don't install near stoves specially if it's gas.

Anywhere on the walls will be fine...! Good luck...!
