Is the concept of good-person/bad-person necessary for a large society to function?

Do we really need shame of this type to control behavior? To bond people together under common beliefs?

Yes. Beyond any doubt in the world I live in. Dehumanize me and change my entire society visualization to somehow exclude constant and continual judgment on everything and everyone round me. Then I might be able to give a different answer. Do this and remain "human" would be a miracle me thinks.

If the concepts of good person and bad person did not exist everyone would be allowed to do everything they want and we cant have everyone trying to run their own show here. That is counter productive. We need these concepts so we can move toward a better tomorrow together.Only by focused activity can we accomplish something great for our society.

Just as the cells in our body united to create something amazing like the living and conscious human being so we must be united in body and mind and in concept. The cells learned that it was good to be united so they kept uniting and eventually creating a new better being.

If the concept of good did not exist you and everyone else and life as we know it would not exist. Our creator thought that life was good so he,she or it created us an all life as we know it.

Sure we could have existed in the garden of Eden not knowing the concepts of good and evil as we did before but what kind of life would that be?We would be like animals in a cage created for someones entertainment. It is that very concept of good and bad that encourages us to pursue our dreams in life and become better then we are.It seems to me given the fact that that the bible says that we were placed in a garden[not allowed to go outside of it and not in fact knowing of the outside]with average intelligence and without any ambition for self improvement we would be as slaves unable to enjoy that which god has always enjoyed which was self improvement and the concepts of good and evil and the ability to create something new and something better then ourselves.God did not create us better then himself or equal in every way but he did gave us the potential to become like him and even better for reasons that do not involve gods desire for man to grow and learn and become something better. In all likelihood our human spirit was necessary for us to be alive but it also enabled us to grow which was not its original purpose most likely.

The bible says that the devil deceived us by giving us the apple from the tree of wisdom, which is most likely a metaphor, but he merely introduced in our mind the concept of good and evil.He merely gave us a choice to choose between good and evil which we did not have before.

Knowing the concepts of good and evil is one of the things that make us human and different from animals.

If we did not know what good and bad is we would be like animals.

    Honestly, I don't think so.

I think it's just a another way to control the masses. Just like religion.

If it was really working would there still be so much crime? It obviously isn't working.

It's not about that. What we do need is rules. People who break the rules disrupt things for the rest of us. That's all.
