Why do many people think they should have innocent children when they themselves do not lead innocent lives?

Yes you are perfectly right. There is a strong connection between a child s construction of soul , behaviour , regarding the behaviour of parents, the parents inclinations.

Innocent lives? What's that? But all kid are innocent because they have not grown enough to know what is really right or wrong. But some do not have a chance being indoctrinated in a religion when they are about 5 years old.

We would be a lesser society with every single generation if we only ever taught principles we were perfect in. There is something to be said for learning from other peoples mistakes. But its a truly truly immature attitude to feel no one should teach you something they havent perfected themselves. Hypocrisy only comes into play when someone says its important for you, not them. Not when they say, "i made this mistake growing up and i know better now, and you can be sure im going to teach you better than i was".

Well yes children come to us innocent - true enough. SO only perfect people should be parents then??? HA.... ok.... well then population growth would certainly cease! LOL

Parenthood is all about learning, growth and becoming better too.... just like LIFE itself.

We all do our best and yes...some don't do such a good job too.... that is ALSO LIFE! :(

Non-innocence is not a hereditary trait.

All children are innocent because of their age and corresponding mental capacity. Regardless of what their parents do or don't do, the child is innocent for this reason.
