Advice on what to see in London in an hour?

I'm visiting London for work on Wednesday. I'm at a seminar in Westminster that I should get out of about half 2, but my train doesn't leave until about 4 from Kings Cross, so allowing for travel time (got an underground all day pass) I reckon I've got about an hour to see something in London. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should go see (ideally something between Westminster and Kings Cross!)?

You are not too far from Trafalgar Square which has the National Gallery or the National Portrait Gallery very close to it.

You are also close to the Cabinet War Rooms museum that tells the story of Churchill in WWII though time might be a bit tight to see that

If its a nice day head up Whitehall, go through Horse Guards Parade and walk up the Mall towards Buckingham Palace. Have a coffee in the cafe by the lake in St James Park.

You cant go too far in one hour or you will spend all your time on the bus or tube

    4 options right at westminster

    1. St. James Park is gorgeous and its just across from Buckingham Palace. Its an easy walk from Westminster.

2, walk across the bridge and take a ride on the London eye

    3. walk across the bridge and go to Tate modern

    4. walk along the Thames

Have a trip on the London Eye-just across the river from westminster, takes 30 mins to go round and you will get all the sights of london in one hit!

Big Ben/Houses of Parliament/the Thames River/Westminster Abbey all within 2 streets of each other-- Trafalgar Square is about a 5-8 minutes walk north of the same area
