How much does the toll roads cost from Philly to New york?

And is there an alternate road to avoid it?

    Biggest toll is on the New York bridges or tunnels. $8 to go into New York, no charge to go out. You can't avoid that.

    The NJ Turnpike costs a few dollars, and you can avoid that pretty easily. Route 295 is a good road that takes you up near Trenton and Princeton, and then you can use other local roads such as Route 1, but Rt 1 has a lot of lights so it can take a while. I usually take 295 up to about Trenton then pick up the Turnpike at about exit 7 or 8 (the New York area exits start around 13).

    On I-90 it depends on how far into Chicago you want to go. I'd budget at least $25 to be safe. I recently drove from MN to MD and the most expensive section was in IN.
