What to do in Sydney in 3 days?

hey there!

I'm going to sydney next week end, arriving at 8.30 am on friday and leaving at 6 on monday.

What would you advise me to see?

Do I have time to go to Bondi Beach? Is it worth it?

What about the Hop On Hop Off bus?

I don't like museums that much, but id like to see at least the most famous

I like parks and markets

Where should i Go to really "feel the city"?

How is the YHA backpacker in Sydney Central?

Do you know a good backpacker downtown, apart from the YHA?

Is Sydney still busy on sunday, or after 5 in the afternoon?

I actually live in Adelaide and at these times, the city gets really really dead quiet

What are the 5 things I should not miss in Sydney?

What are the good places for the nightlife? Pubs/bars? A good nightclub? Cheap dining out?

Thanks for your help!

I live in Adelaide now but I grew up in Sydney, hopefully I can help you.

Forget Bondi Beach, it's no different to any other Aussie beach except there are more tourists.

I believe the hop on hop off bus is good, but i've never used it.

The Powerhouse museum (mainly science, gadgets etc) and the Museum of Contemporary Art are the best museums.

Sydney is busy after 5, but not so much on a Sunday night.

For parks check out the Royal Botanic Gardens and Centennial Park, and Paddys Markets.

You absolutely must get out onto the Harbour, either with a tourist cruise day or evening, or just by taking a ferry to Manly beach (sort of like the Glenelg area) or Taronga Zoo which is a very cheap way to do it. Look around the Rocks which has lots of little galleries and quaint shops etc, Darling Harbour, have a look at the Opera House and consider doing a Bridge climb (expensive but worth it).

To see how very much more multicultural it is in Sydney head out to Leichardt - little Italy, or Cabramatta - little Vietnam, where you can get a great cheap meal. You might also like to do a day trip to the Blue Mountains, but obviously you might be a bit short of time for this.

Night clubs I've got no idea, it's been too long since I lived there.

    3 Days In Sydney

    Hi there,

My tips for the Top 5 things you shouldn't miss

    * the harbour - as already suggested you should go on a tour or ferry. I thought the afternoon harbour tour (3 or 4 hours) was very worthwhile.

    * walk around the rocks - pick up a brochure from the visitor centre at 106 George Street

    * I stayed at Kings Cross, and I thought it was a fun place. It was busy until late night, the quiet hours were early in the morning

    * The Australian Museum - it is the oldest in Australia, it is worth if you are interested in natural history and indigenous culture of Australia and the Pacific region

    * If you got a car, drive to the northern beaches. I liked Palm Beach and the Barrenjoey Head lighthouse on the Pittwater

    * The Hop on Hop Off bus, or Sydney Explorer is a great way to get around the city. The ticket is valid for one day, and it is hard to visit everything along the 26 stops.

If you are 3 days in Sydney, you might consider buying a Sydney Pass that entitles you to use all Sydney buses (Explorer bus included), ferries and the Manly and Parramatta River Cats.

    * The lookout from the Centrepoint tower is awesome on a clear day.

Sorry, these are more than five things, and I could certainly add more.

    Have a good time.

What to see depends on what you are most interested in really. There is a market on the weekend at the Rocks ( old area under the Harbour Bridge ), known as The Rocks Market ( surprise, surprise). There is definitely time to go to Bondi Beach - it's 20-30 mins on the bus from the city, or you can train it to Bondi Junction, and bus it from there. If you like beaches and want to see Sydney Harbour as well, catch a ferry to Manly Beach from Circular Quay. Great fish and chips at Manly Beach on the Corso. You mentioned you aren't into museums that much, however, I'd recommend going to the Museum of Contemporary Art at Circular Quay. Fantastic building and most often cutting edge modern work. Whilst down in that area, a tour of the Opera House, or at least a walk around it is worthwhile. The Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb is fantastic, and a real buzz. The YHA backpacker at Central has a great reputation, and that area has numerous other backpackers - esp in Pitt St between Campbell and Goulburn Sts. Cheap eats - Chinatown - walk down Campbell St, cross over George St and you are in Chinatown. Try the food halls for the cheapest and best variety. Nightclubs - heaps of them - buy the Sydney Morning Herald on the friday and the Metro supplement has the what's on. Invaluable information. There is also plenty of free street press mags available at record shops.

By the way, Sydney is busy after 5 and on sundays.

Have fun whilst in Sydney. cheers, Robert

The classic things are Sydney Harbour, Opera House (you can go in there), Harbour Bridge; the old pubs on the Rocks, Darling Harbour (Sydney Aquarium), Botanical Gardens (just south of the Opera House), Woolloomooloo Wharf, Kings Cross, go up to the Sydney Tower; Chinatown (and Paddy's Markets); and Bondi and Manly Beaches. To "really feel the city", head to some inner suburbs with character, like Newtown (bohemic, colourful and interesting), Glebe (cafes, markets and locals), Balmain (live music in the pubs, thats where locals go night time); and also just the CBD, like Pitt Street and George Street. There are nice restaurants everywhere but i really like Spanish Quarters along George Street. Yep, Sydney is busy almost 24/7, definitely also after 5pm and Sunday afternoons..

Relax on sun-drenched beaches, dine at award-winning restaurants and a lot more is what you will get on your own visit to Sydney. Discover more with hotelbye . One of the world's great celebrities and a definitely must see in Sydney may be the Sydney Opera House, a location is a UNESCO World Heritage Website and the celebrity attraction on the glittering harbour. That graceful creating, designed like shells or billowing sails, perches on a finger of area surrounded by water. Sydney is a distinctive spot to invest your holiday so, do not eliminate the ability to go to a great city.

A couple of years ago, a friend and me went on a road trip around Tasmania, starting the holiday by driving from Sydney to Melbourne. We left home, the northern beaches later on in the day, so only drove as far as Berry. The next day we went for a short drive to Eden & then the following day we drove to Sale, and the next day into Melbourne. If we had left Sydney earlier on in the day, we would probably have made it as far as Bega that same day. So I agree with the answer, Day 1 - Sydney to Bega Day 2 - Bega to Sale Day 3 - Sale to Melbourne Slightly off-topic, but if you ever get a chance to go for a road trip around Tassie. definitely do it! We had a good time exploring that state.

You certainly can do it in three days, although longer is better as it's such a beautiful area. Early July is winter and cold, so you certainly won't be able to swim. There will probably be snow in nearby Jindabyne in the mountains. I think the best places to stop would be Huskisson and Merimbula, but really it's lovely beach towns all the way so you can stop wherever you feel like, and there'll be loads of accommodation available at that time of year.

Hey, I'm from Adelaide too, and we're trying to move out from there and into Sydney.

Anyways, what to do in Sydney, go to shops, ride the train and view the Harbour Bridge, go to Luna Park, etc

enjoy your time in Sydney :)
