Is there any effort put to convert the excess co2 in the air to useful product like what plants doing..?

There is no excess CO2 . The plants need it to produce O2 , and the C is kept by the plants to male oil & gas out of it. The plants have produced the fossil fuel we have and the plants will continue.

Yes, there is a company called Carbon Sciences that uses CO2 and a biocatalyst to turn it into fuel. It can convert CO2 into anything from diesel to jet fuel. The by product is calcium carbide which is useful for all types of industrial uses.

yes, there are a lot of researches in order to re-use the excess CO2 in our air. For example to use it for methanol manufacturing.
