Could someone help please: Sound not working on computer after partial recovery. ?
I've had to do a partial recovery on my computer due to it being infected. Now it's back to its original state but the sound is not working. Obviously I've checked all the sound settings, plugs, wires etc... I've downloaded a driver and a sound codec but to no avail.
Could someone help me out please? Thanks in advance for your advices.

1. Go to Device Manager (Press F1 to get the Help box: Type Device Manager and click the link) or
Right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Click the Hardware tab.
2. Click the + sign next to "Sound, video and game controllers". Is there a yellow exclamation mark somewhere there?
3. If yes, then right click and choose "uninstall" or "remove" depending what OS you have.
4. Reboot and the "Found New Hardware" wizard should come up. Follow the prompts. If you have a CD for your motherboard or that came with your laptop put that in. If not choose Let Windows find the drivers.
If you do not have a CD and Windows fails to find the right driver, take note of your Audio manufacture and download the drivers from their site
B. Go to CTRL Panel/Sound and to the Window that shows you the different sounds within Windows such as "Default Beep" etc. Highlight Default Beep. Is the Test arrow grayed out? If it is you haven't installed the drivers yet. If it isn't grayed out and you hear no sound when you hit it, then it means that there is something wrong with your speaker connections..
If your sound was previously working, then going back to a restore point should help. To do this:
1. Go to Programs
2. Accessories
3. system tools
4. system restore
find a System Scheduled Checkpoint before your problems started and Restore.

Uninstall it first and reboot. Windows should auto install it. What brand name and model is your computer? That helps us help you if you include that info.
