Swimming pond water is blue, is that ok?
My friend just got a pond out on his property the other day. He was getting some land and dirt cleared/dug out and came across an old mine that was filled with water. Well he decided to make a HUGE swimming hole/pond.
It looks fantastic and the water is a very blue color, sort of between a light and medium blue color. When swimming the water gets brown from the dirt but goes back to the blue when it's still.
Is that water safe to swim in. My fiance' said he thought when water is that color it was unsafe to swim in. Is that true and also what causes the water to be that color?
Thanks for any answers, we are just really curious.
The water came out of an abandoned coal mine. My fiance' wants to know what chemical? makes the water that blue color. As a kid he was told if the water was that weird blue/green color that it was contaminated from the coal mines and to not swim in it.

my dad said when he was a kid he used to swim in ponds all the time and he is 80 now did not hurt him so i think it will be fine

No way! Black moors and different "fancy goldfish" get better than 8 inches, and could die from stunting beforehand he outgrows the tank. Stunting skill his insides will improve, yet no longer his outsides, and he will die beforehand he grows longer. no longer to coach that goldfish are verry messy and want tremendous waterchanges very many times. you recognize those uncomplicated "feeder" goldfish-they get an entire foot lengthy! If I were you i'd jest keep a betta, and do 50 p.c. waterchange each and every weekend. sturdy success! Be a to blame hobbiest and keep a fish that is desirable on your aquarium! a million betta or some (3) small fish jointly with male guppies! It sounds to me that it is just the reflection of the sky making it appear blue.
