Bad reception with freeview: help!?
Hi!
I've got a freeview box and the reception is fine when the weather is good. However, the picture and sound break when it starts to rain or gets windy. I've added an indoor booster but it doesn't make a difference.
I think the area I live in has a rather poor reception!
Any ideas or suggestions about what I could do to get rid of this problem?

Where do you live? Contact me, i'm an aerial installer in the north of england and i do a free diagnostic. It could be that water is getting into your cable and travelling down to the plug. A good way to check is to unplug the cable and shake the end in your hand, if your hand ends up with a little water on it, then a new cable or aerial dipole would be needed. Otherwise, how old is your aerial? Does it look like any of your neighbours that look like digital ones? It is as i say, one of 2 things, possibly three. The cable, the aerial dipole, or the area you're in. Try digitaluk.co.uk and use the postcode checker to see if you're in an area to receive the freeview transmission. Alternatavly, try sky or free sat, steer clear from virgin. Hope this helps.

Check the actual aerial and your TV coaxial cable by the sounds of it, it may be loosely fitted or you may have a loose connection which is being affected by heavy wind and rain.
What you are describing generally happens with satellite reception where a particularly heavy thunder and lightning storm or blizzard interferes with the satellite reception signal trying to get through the cloud mass.
This shouldn't happen to digital TV signals.
A good way to check if you're in a poor TV reception area
is to look at all your neighbours TV aerials. The more aerials the poorer the TV reception in your area.

Weather has an effect on the signal, but it's quite likely you live in a fringe area and some signals are kept at an artificially low strength as they would interfere with the analogue signal for the same station.
At the time your area is switched to full digital you should have no problem.
That's the theory anyway.

depends on what aerial you are using you can get better picture by using an outside aerial ,i use a indoor aerial that is electric run I get a great picture with it but bought the same one for my parents and they live in a different area but can't get a great picture an outside aerial helped them get great pciture
