How can I avoid receiving 3 copies of the same email?

Question

I've just installed Microsoft Outlook on my PC (I was previously using Outlook express) and managed to get it to work.
But I keep on receiving 3 copies of the same email in my inbox.  

Any idea what to do to only receive one copy?

I've browsed all the help and troubleshooting pages but there's nothing about that. Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers!

You didn't indicate which version of Outlook you are using so I inserted a link below for Outlook and Outlook Express 2003.

In Outlook 2003:
 
1. Selecting Tools
2. Click E-mail Accounts
3. Choose "View or change existing e-mail accounts"
4. Click Next
5. Highlight the entry for your mail account
6. Select Change
7. Click More Settings
8. Under the Advanced tab there is a check box next to Leave a copy of messages on the server. If you uncheck it
9. Click OK
10. Click Next
11. Click Finish
The next time you check mail your messages will be removed from the server and each time you check mail you will pull down the new messages only once.

How many email addresses have you got? I have several, but set up to receive  email addressed to all from one isp, therefore all the spam comes in several times but at least is in same place so more easily disposed of. I don't know if this applies to you. Other than that it could simply be people sending the same email 3 times.

you are worse off them me I only get two copies of every email...I shall watch this question with interest.
