why,is it,that you see in the usa the national flag everywhere, absolutely ridiculous?
there is no county in the world where they showing there flag so much,as in the usa, are they just trying to showing of,to there neighbours? that they are such a good patriots?
to me ,its allmost the same idioticy as those dictators in bela russia or
north corea, with all those images of there leaders
if you really respect your flag, than you show this on national
occasions, to have flags on military posts or navyvessels, official
gouvernement buildings ect is normal, but not on every truck, house
and god knows was else, this is really out of the normal.
are they afraid to be called a traitor,it they dont show a flag on there
speedboat,or redneck truck ?

Many times, IMO, the 'flag' is used as a way to 'attempt-to' keep themselves from feeling guilty about some of the things that they do/choices they've made...etc.
As if putting a flag or a ribbon on their Hummer could possibly 'make-up-for' the ridiculous amounts of unnecessary fuel consumption/pollution, etc.
So, it's mostly a 'False-Patriotism', and/or extreme-Nationalism masquerading as "Patriotism". IMO

With the United States, the Flag is THE national identity. It has 50 stars, one for each State, and 13 stripes, one for each of the original colonies. It is a representation of the past and present, as well as standing for the ideals that all Americans want to see in the future. Those are the right of all human beings to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. The flag is flown and shown so often because it is the national Identity. Unlike other nations like England with it's Queen, America doesn't glorify it's head of state into some super-being and has no real solid national icon besides the flag (for the most part). Our presidents last no more then 8 years while the flag has lasted quite a bit longer then that. By showing the flag, Americans show solidarity with all other Americans in saying "For the most part, we are satisfied with the way our country is going."
It is not about being called a traitor, it's about being content enough about the direction of what is happening to display that fact. Of course there are some people who do it anyway just for the fun of flying a flag...

I see nothing wrong with a country being proud and if they show this pride by flying the flag then that is even better. People do not fly the flag to "show off" that doesn't even make since we are doing it at our homes, you can't see our flags in another country. I have a flag flying outside of my home and it is not only to show my pride of the United States but to also support my husband who is currently deployed. I respect your opinions but I also want to remind you that this is a free country so if you don't like the United States then you do not have to live here or if you are from another country you do not have to visit here and our flag flying patriotism will not affect you!

Some people feel very strongly about what that flag represents. Some people in this world have convictions. That's certainly something not seen very much in the rest of the world. Maybe that's why the quality of life in other countries seem to be going down all of the time. You have no reverence for what your country stands for.

Flag waving is not as bad as having pictures of a crazy leader plastered all over the place like in North Korea. It is a little tiresome though.

I've seen a lot of flag waving in south america too. Nationalism, I hate it.
I guess people are proud, and feel the need to identify themselves, however I think identifying yourself by your nationality is one of the worst ways. Would you want to identify yourself as having the same nationality as the typical Jerry Springer Show guest?
I'm british, I don't wave the flag because the last thing I want to be identified with is with football hooligans, maggie thatcher, prince charles. Wouldn't mind being identified with John Cleese or Clive Owen thoough :-)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with displaying the American Flag. You display them, because your'e proud to be an American.

I agree.
It's disrespectful to the flag to turn it into stickers and paste it all over walls, automobiles, and street signs. Many people fly the flag in their yards now, but don't even take the time to lower it and fold it up when it's dark or raining.
At first, it started out as a sign of solidarity after 9/11, but now it's just jingoism. :(

You can't be an American.
Why didn't you tell us where your from? maybe we could cut off our economical aid and YOU could rescue it.

You know,! if you had really wanted to make a point you might had spent some time learning how to spell, use English properly, and sentence structure.
