Why are slimes or goos the lowest level monsters in many adventure video games?
It seems it's especially true about Japanese games, so I was wondering if it's some kind of traditional creature, or some Japanese pop culture feature.

How scary and terrible is a slime! They have no backbone! Heck my Grandma could take out a slime! Seeing as slimes are pretty puny, they make cool intro bad guys. Besides, who really wants a slime around. My favorite slimes where the ones in Dragon Warrior 2 for the NES! (The only happy slimes I've ever seen.)
I don't believe there is a Japanese pop culture tie...I've been Japan 5-6 times and there really is not cultural reason for it.

Hmm never really thought of it that way.I mean come on look at them dont they look easy to beat? In runescape slimes and goos arent the lowest creature to beat.

Seiken no denetsu had the rabites and mushroom guys for there lowest level monsters. but for the most part you are right, its just a traditional low level monster. its usualy slimes and rats.

Maybe b/c it's the easiest thing to beat, b4 u get to the strong monsters and have to take about 3 times b4 u kill him/her.

it's to help you level up faster so you can get more items and exp points before you go to a mini boss that you need to beat...besides that---that's the only thing i can think of...i hope i helped. =^w^=

coz they are easiest to slaughter, one quickie and splat slime and goo everywhere even in your hair hahahahhah
