My 6 month old started to wean well but now refuses all solids, any advice?
I have started to week my 6, nearly 7 month old baby onto solids. I waited until he showed signs of being ready - watching us eat and trying to grab at our food etc and then I started with just small amounts of baby rice mixed with his milk to a runny consistency. I then slowly added very small amounts of carrot, chicken, banana and sweet potato (separately) to the mixture and he was loving it, eating 3 little meals a day. He now refuses point blank to eat anything other than drinking his milk, and if I try to feed him he swipes the spoon out of my hand or blows raspberries with the food or at the spoon.
Can anyone suggest anything?
Incidentally he was 5 weeks early, has had bad reflux which has been resolved with Milupa Prejomin, doesn't have any teeth and not yet sitting up (would you wait until he is sitting unsupported?)

My son Harry was born 5 weeks premature and at 2 weeks of age developed violent reflux and stopped gaining weight, my GP prescribed Infant Gaviscon and a friend reccommended Dr. Browns bottles, both worked fantastically and we thought we had solved the problem. At 3 months we were able to stop using the Gaviscon. Recently he has started to violently vomit again with such force that it shoots out his mouth and nose, the GP put him back on Gaviscon but it is having no effect what-so-ever. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience of this? (Incidentally he has a severe lactose intollerance and is on SMA LF, reflux improved after he was put on this)
9 réponsesNewborn & Babyil y a 1 décennieMy step-son is bullying my children and others at school. What can I do to stop it?
He came to live with us 2 & a half years ago after living with his mum. (She moved around so we could not find him or her so when he moved in with us at 11 he was a complete stranger to us) From what we can gather & from what we know about his home life, it appears domestic violence was common place as was swearing & shouting at each other, he basically ran riot with no proper supervision or care. She has 3 other children with the man she lives with & it seems that it was always made clear to Josh that he was different & not really wanted there. Since he has moved in with us we have bent over backwards to help him adjust to living with us, constantly reasuring him how much he is loved & wanted in our family, but dispite this he bullies our children with really spiteful hurtful words that reduce my son to tears. Our son has gone from a happy go lucky confident child to a nervous wreck. We have spoken to him about his bullying and told him it won't be tolerated but still he does it Help

My stepson is 13 & lives with us. When he was 11 his mother phoned us out of the blue after denying us contact for 7 years to tell us she no longer wanted him (She alsomade this clear to him) We jumped at the chance & have spent 2 very difficult years helping him to settle in. She hasn't seen him since Oct 2 years ago when she had him for 2 days & let him down that Christmas after promising him he could stay with her the week. She also promised him PS2 etc but it never materialised. She doesn't send him Birthday cards or Christmas Cards & her phone calls to him are sporadic. She won't call for months then we'll have a spate of her calling almost everyday during which she makes him feel guilty about everything. Afterwards he is withdrawn, quiet & distressed. We've told him if he doesn't want to talk to her he doesn't have to but she seems to have some hold over him & seems scared of upsetting her. We've told him we'll support & protect him whatever he chooses. But should we make the dec
7 réponsesFamilyil y a 1 décennieI want another child and he doesn't what should I do?
My husband and I have 2 kids of our own and had decided to have another when out of the blue his exgirlfriend called to say she couldn't handle his 11 year old son from a previous relationship and wanted him to live with us even though we had been denied contact with him by her for over 7 years. He came to live with us and needless to say he has had major issues with the rejection, was iniatially very homesick and to boot has had to deal with all the issues of being a teenager. I have taken him under my wing and shown him love and support through what has been a very difficult time for us all and finally he seems to have settled into our family. We decided to leave off having another baby to give him a chance to settle in, but now my husband has decided he doesn't want anymore. I don't know what to do, I desperately want another child but he thinks that his son being with us should replace that need in me. I've tried talking to him but he just won't listen or understand. Help!
8 réponsesMarriage & Divorceil y a 1 décennieHow to make a house rabbit friendly!?
I have a 17 week old neutered himalayan rex rabbit who is a house rabbit. He has lived in our house since we collected him from the breeder at 14 weeks of age and is now used to us and the hustle and bustle of our household. He is confident to come out of his cage and hop about and he also has a long thin cardboard box that he sleeps in during the day. He will come up and nudge you with his nose or investigate what you are up to, but he has no interest in being touched and runs away if you try to smooth him, he also can't stand being picked up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can make him more friendly?

I have bipolar disorder but my husband cannot/will not accept there is anything wrong with me, any suggestions
It makes me tear my hair out. At the moment I have been signed off work (now in my 5th week) but his opinion is that I should just pull myself together and get on with life (If only I could I would) I have tried printing things off of the internet on it but he claims they are to wordy and he doesn't understand them, when I gave him a printout from my GP he just ignored it and wouldn't read it. I have tried talking to him but it is so difficult as he just switches off and doesn't listen. He asks me what's wrong and when I try to expalin how I am feeling he is just snappy and almost unkind. He is of the opinion I shouldn't take any meds and get through it myself. When I'm well he's fantastic but when I'm ill he's awful.
I love him dearly but I just can't go on living like this, Does anyone have any advice or experience on how I can get him to understand what is wrong with me?

Does anyone have any advice or experience on how I can get him to understand what is wrong with me? The bipolar is silently destroying me and my husband is breaking me in two with his behaviour. Any advice?
