...the dimly lit theater fades to black... ...there's a stutter of mechanical whirring... ...as you watch the screen, your heart begins to beat faster... ...there's a fluttering in your stomach... ...your throat is dry...your palms, damp... ...Suddenly, a chill runs down your spine... ...You clutch the person next to you... ...You tell yourself that it's only a movie... "...i-i-it's o-o-only a m-m-movie!!"... ...But sooner or later, it's time to go home...maybe alone...in the dark...

  • Halloween Shrunken Heads Preservation?

Looking for information out there, from someone who has had experience making shrunken heads out of peeled and carved apples, for Halloween. Most of the websites and pages I have read up on, suggest that the proper way to preserve the apples faces, before the prescribed two-week drying, dehydrating and shriveling, is to give the apples a bath in lemon juice and salt. Would it be more prudent to outright soak the apples for a period of time, in said solution?? My experiments in doing a few of these so far, have had mixed results, as some of the apples seem to maintaining quite well, without rotting or molding...and others seem to be molding and rotting right away. Also, some of the websites have suggested that for quicker results, a slow baking of the apples, in a low-heat oven also works; has anyone out there attempted this, and what were the results?? Finally, for added preservation, once the apple has shriveled to the satisfactory point, would a thin coating of polyurethane help, and would it affect the apple, in any way?? I welcome any and all information, from anyone who has attempted this cool Halloween decoration idea.

  • Lip Plumper products vs. Invasive Medical Treatment?

A girlfriend of mine is considering an expensive medical treatment, in order to swell or plump her lips; to be quite honest, I am quite adverse to such invasive medical treatments, and I think that she looks quite beautiful, the way that she is...often telling her so. However, despite my repeated attempts to convince her otherwise, she seems dead determined to do this...though no concrete plan have been laid down...at least, as far as I know. I have been doing some research on this, including alternate...and not so invasive...methods, in doing what she wants to do. In my research, I have come across numerous topical methods...including something called 'lip plumpers'...which, according to the varied claims, are effective and non-permenant. From site to site, I read the same: "I'm the best"..."No, I'm the best"..."No, I'm the best"...and on, and on and on. Clearly, most of these websites are trying to sell a product, rather than exhuing what is really the best, so I thought that I'd put it out there, amongst my fellow Yahoo Answerers. Has anyone out there, had any experience with these lip plumper products...some privy information, which I might pass onto my girlfriend?? Any information would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in Advance....

  • In search of book-shaped DVD/CD holders/cases?

In my continued efforts to consolidate the space taken up by my massive DVD & CD collection, as well as making my home looking much less like a video store, I have been searching for cleverly decorative and faux traditional ways to store them. I would like to know if there is such a thing as DVD/CD storage cases, which when placed on a shelf, look just like traditional and old-fashioned book spines...a cleverly faux illusion of having a shelf full of classic-looking books, but in fact, are filled with DVD's and CD's. Would anyone out there know where I might be able to find something like this, if it even exists?? Thanks in Advance...

  • Problem with details on my pumpkin carving & design; assistance, please...?

Once again, I have been tasked with submitting an entry in my workplace pumpkin carving & design contest (...been doin' it for eight years, now, and I have always managed to win at least one, if not two of the offered prizes, for my entry). This year, I am attempting to do my pumpkin rendition of 'Audrey II', from the musical movie version of "Little Shop of Horrors". I have pretty much all the details and materials covered...except for one thing, that's gettin' my head a-scratchin. How the heck do I construct those huge lips on the plant?? If you recall, those lips just stuck out there, as the plant was talking and singing, so carving them out of the pumpkin flesh might not be possible. Anyone have any suggestions??? Ideas most appreciated......

  • ..no! No! NO!!! Another horror movie remake?? Will the insanity never end?

...just got word that it appears that the classic horror chiller from 1985, "Re-Animator", is one of the next films to receive the 'remake' treatment....and supposedly in 3D, no less!! What could possibly surpass the original film?? I weep for the future of horror film entertainment, at this point!! This one definitely warrants enraged opinion; what is yours???

  • The Music Contained Within the "Crank 2: High Voltage" Trailer?

...for those movies fans who are pop-musically inclined, do you recognized any of the music contained within the trailer?? It sounds damn near as hyper-kinetically super-charged as the character that Jason Statham plays in the movie. As there does not appear to be an announced motion picture soundtrack, at least as yet, I am hoping to perhaps find out what's playing in the trailer. Any and all help, most appreciated....

  • Can anyone confirm this?? ("Friday the 13th" question)?

,,,in the recent 're-imagining' of the original "Friday the 13th", there was a scene at the beginning, where the first couple of kids were wandering into Camp Crystal Lake. They passed through a vine-thicketed threshold, with 'Camp Crystal Lake' overhead; as they were seen moving further past the threshold, and further into the camp, there was a quick flash of an old yellow sign...very familiar looking...and obscured by the vinery. Now, I probably won't be able to confirm it, until the DVD comes out, and I can freeze frame the shot, but that sign looks exactly like the yellow-painted 'Camp Crystal Lake' sign, from the original film (...remember the camp counselor supervisor, in the yellow slicker, walking up to the sign, and was blinded by a flashlight beam...right before getting killed....saying to the unseen attacker, before getting dispatched, "...oh, hi...what are you doing out here in this mess?")...

...a souvenir trinket, carried over from film to film, perhaps???

  • How to post video on my Yahoo! 360, if that's possible?

...on request of many of the fine folks on Yahoo! Answers, I am trying to get my Yahoo! 360 site together and accessible. Being that I am a 'fright film fan', and along with movies, I have a love of movie trailers, I would like to know if there is a way that I can post video, such as movie trailers. I've pawed though the inner works of Yahoo! 360, and I haven't been able to figure this one out. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Another horror remake, that is going to be incomparable to the original?

...just caught the trailer for the upcoming remake of "Last House on the Left", and I really have to say, it looks way too slick, to have the potential of being comparable to the raw, visceral, gritty and depraved original film. This is what made the original film so shocking...so much a film, where the viewer is disgusted and repulsed, yet unable to look away, at the horrific proceedings that occur in the story....

    http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=51...

...now, a mere three years ago, an independent filmmaker, named David DeFalco, came pretty damn close, if not right on target, as far as equaling the unswerving shock and power of director Wes Craven's original film, with a veritable "...House..." remake, called "Chaos"; it was so irreparable and unflinching in it's depiction of the original story, and definitely warrants the attention of those who might be interested in seeing a 'true' remake of Wes Craven's classic cult film....

(...a fan-constructed trailer of "Chaos", as the actual trailer seems to be inaccessable)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XP9HRl2oqE&feature...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_(2005_David_DeF...

...I can appreciate the fact that both Wes Craven and Sean Cunningham, who conceived of the original film, have a hand in the inception of this new incarnation (...and will probably be the only reason why I would entertain a viewing of the new film); but I am very hard pressed to imagine this new film, barely even beginning to hold a candle to the original. It's just not that easy to shock movie audiences in this manner, anymore, and the producers of "Chaos" appeared to have had the courage and the unflinching nerve to actually do that very thing....

....I am curious as to what you fine folk out there, have to think about, in this regards....

  • Here's a vague/obscure T.V. series query; it's something I've been looking for, for years. Anyone know this?

I'm trying to find some information on an old '70's afterschool T.V. series, called "Hot Dog"; I remember seeing it, in the mid '70's, when I was younger, and for a couple of years, living in Indiana (...I never saw, nor had heard about it on the West Coast). It was a very enjoyable and informative show, which showed amazing and interesting different people, places and things, and was inter-spliced with celebrity commentary on the various people/places/things presented. The theme music to this series is still quite vivid in my mind, even to this day, but I've never been able to find any information on the show, ever since I saw the show, so many years ago. Please help me revive and relive a childhood memory...

  • I seek a foreign independent art-house caper movie?

I've asked this one before, months ago, to no avail; I thought that I'd try it again...

The film, released sometime within the past five years, was a foreign independent art-house caper movie, with moments of comedy and humor. As I recall, there were several diverse characters involved in the caper, but the one that distinctly sticks out in my mind, was the driver of the group, who was a drunken, washed-up and burnt-out ex-Mexican masked wrestler, who is always dwelling upon his past glory...

Sound familiar to anyone?? (...outside of those who might suggest that this might be "Nacho Libre", which it's not)

  • Internet History Access?

A little assistance, if you please. I would like to find out how, through Windows Vista, I can check the history of internet sites visited; I'm specifically talking about history, where not only the visited sites are listed, but also the dates they were visited, as well as how long the sites were visited. I know where I can find just the basic history, as well as any temporary 'cookies' acquired, but I'm pretty sure that there's a way I can check the specific information, which I am looking for. The reason being, is that I want to be able to check my workplace computer, for any unauthorized or illegal websites, which some of my co-workers, who also have access to the computer, might have visited, when they visited them, and how long they might have been on those sites. Any and all information, that someone can afford me, would be greatly appreciated...

  • Coincidental Irony, or Commercial Stereotype?

Now, I can conceiveably believe that the casting of the very telented actor, Robert Downey, Jr., in the role of substance-abusive Tony Stark, in the recent box-office hit, "Iron Man", might have been ironically coincidental, with regards to knowing Robert's own well-known & well-publicized substance-abusive past....

...however, it was recently announced that Robert has been cast as the master detective, Sherlock Holmes, in director Guy Ritchie's new cinematic take on the character....a character, who despite being yet another fictional creation, has had a reputed substance-abusive past, as well....

...is this a case of someone's past coming back to haunt, only in this case, that 'someone's' re-emerging past might just be what keeps that 'someone' firmly on top of that 'someone's' game?

  • "The Day the Earth Stood Still" trailer...What do you think???

...as cheesy and simple as the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was, it STILL was a very poignant and important film, in the milestone history of science fiction. Now, apparently, even this classic film is garnishing a remake; here is the trailer...

    http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=46...

...man, talk about taking the concept of 'poignant' to an utmost & downright dark and grim level; if this is just the teaser...a taste of what is to come, as far as this film's release, and what is to be contained therein, I absolutely cannot wait to see what the robot Gort, looks like, in whatever conception they've seen fit to come up with....

...what are your thought and opinions???

  • Calling all Marvel 'Avengers' fans, both seasoned and anew???

...in the past year or so, I have mustered a substantial effort in acquiring CD and/or online renditions of many of the music and genre albums, which I used to listen to, as a kid. In the advent of the proposed "Avengers" movie, I have been reminded of a record album, which I used to have in my youth. It was an audio-performed rendition of one of the first, if not THE first issue of The Avengers, where they find and revive Captain America from his suspended animation, and they go up against Prince Namor, The Submariner. I'm quite positive that there are comic book fans, especially early 'Avengers' fans, who may be quite familiar with this item. At any rate, I would very much like to find out where I could possibly find this?? Naturally, in covering all bases, I'll be posting this over in the 'comics' section, as well

  • Movie Music Question?

In the late '90's film, "187", there's a really cool slow-beat musical piece, which is repeated a number of times in the course of the film; the intro has some sort of electrically synthesized vocal chorus, if that help out. I'd like to add this song to my 'Rhapsody' jukebox. A little assitance, if you please.....

    ...thanks, in advance!!!

  • ...a DVD question, from a 'technological dinosaur'?

There have been some folks out there, who have expressed interest in having me post some of the more interesting and obscure films in my massive 13,000+ film collection; however, being the technological dinosaur that I am, I am lacking the massive knowledge and wisdom, to accomplish this. And so, upon recommendation, I am posting this query: How DOES one 'rip' and 'post' a DVD, so that one can share it online, amongst his fellow film lovers????

  • A song used in a T.V. commercial???

There's this pop alternative rock song, which I'm looking for, and it is played in one of the 'Beaches Resorts' commercials; I'm pretty sure that it's a 'top-forty' hit song, and although some of the lyrics are actually performed in the commercial, the one distictive thing about the song, is in the melody. At the beginning, during the main melody, and part of the background, is what sounds like an ensemble, multi-voiced rendering of "....hip, hip!.......hip, hip!....". Hopefully, this will be enough for someone to assist me in identifying this song; any ideas, anyone???

  • "Witchblade" to finally be released on DVD???

I realize that this question might be better served in the T.V. show section; however, as the first episode was a made-for-cable MOVIE, it should count here, and in assuming an obsessively great level of enthusiasm for this rather extraordinary show, I thought that I'd get the word out to the fans...

    http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=92...

Yes, it has been announced this morning, that the TNT action/fantasy series, "Witchblade" is to be finally slated for DVD released, in a few months. This was a rather appealing, eclectic, unconventional, and wholly underappreciated fantasy/adventure series, starring a very alluring and beautiful Yancy Butler, as a gritty & sexy police detective, who inadvertantly finds herself in possession of an ancient supernatural weapon...a weapon, which she just might have been destined to possess...

Is anyone else psyched about this DVD release??? What are your opinions about the show??? What did you like and/or dislike, about it???
