Can you sue the local council if you think your car has been damaged by them?
I heard the guys out on those ride on lawn mowers today, it was early and I was still in my bed. My car is parked right next to the verge of grass they were cutting and when I went out tonight to my car there has been serious damage to my bumper. It is on the passenger side away from the road so not likely to have been hit by another car and it had been fine when I left it last so know I haven't hit it and caused it. There is a huge stone lying under my car at the moment and I think this may have been kicked up by the lawn mower and hit my car causing the damage.
How likely is it that I can claim the council for repairs to my car without actually witnessing it?

On 10 September 2007, Mary advertises her house for sale at an asking price of offers over £110,000. Patricia views the property and makes an offer to buy at a price of £125,000, on the condition that Mary has an acceptance in Patricia’s hands by 22nd September 2007. John has also viewed the property and has indicated to Mary that he might be willing to offer the sum of £130,000.
By 26th September Mary is still waiting for John to make an offer, so she contacts John who tells her that he has decided not to make an offer for the property. By this time Patricia has also found herself another property at a fixed price of £120,000. Patricia has concluded a written bargain for this other house.
On 27th September Mary accepts Patricia’s offer, however Patricia says she is no longer interested in Mary’s property. Mary says that because she has accepted Patricia’s offer in writing there is a concluded contract. As a fallback Mary also decides to write to John accepting his offer for her house.
Advise Mary on whether she has sold the property to either Patricia or John.
Surely Mary hasn't actually sold the house to anyone? Or am I looking at this all wrong? Any help would be appreciated,

I wanted to listen to something on my laptop last week without disturbing anyone so decided to plug in my earphones from my iPod. Everything was ok until the next day when I turned on my laptop and couldn't get any sound from my built in speakers. I tried plugging in the earphones again and the sound works perfectly with them plugged in, but when I unplug them all I have is silence. I have checked all my settings and everything seems to be fine. Obviously it is not practical to use earphones all the time and I would like to know how to get sound from my speakers again, can anyone help?

I recently got a new laptop and would like to move all my iTunes library from my old laptop to my new one. My problem is I do not have a CD writer on my old laptop therefore can't burn a CD and transfer it that way. I bought a USB memory stick to try transfering it that way but I am having problems doing this. I am not too clever when it comes to computers so any help would be appreciated.
