I recently had an interview and was told they would have the decision made by a specific date. In the mean time, I have had another job offer. I am wondering if the first employer (who I would much prefer to work for) would possibly decide before the date they stated so I can know whether to accept or decline this other job offer? Has anyone ever had an offer made to them before the specified they were told in the interview?

I need help assigning the Hydrogens to this NMR of butyraldehyde. There is a triplet at ~9.2, quartets at ~1.8 and 2.6, and , and a triplet at ~1.1. There is also a single line at zero, which I am assuming is TMS. How do I know which H's belong to which peaks? (An easy, understandable explanation would be appreciated!) Thanks!

I need some help analyzing this methyl benzoate H NMR spectra. There are 3 peaks - one at 4 that is the highest, and the other two are about equal height, one at about 7.5 and one at 8.0. I know the one at 4 is the CH3, since it is tallest. I am not sure, however, since all the other ones are CH, which peak represents the CH's on the ring closest to the COOCH3, and which peak represents the CH's on the ring farthest from the COOCH3. Chemistry is hard to describe without a drawing, but hopefully someone can help. I appreciate it!

One is not provided; I need to make one, and am not sure how much powder to add to how much water, nor do I know how much fluid of this stock to draw out once it is made so that I end up with .005g. Please provide an explanation, not just an answer, as I would like to learn this process for next time. Thanks!

We have an older home with wonderful dark brown natrual wood trim throughout. It is stunning. The kitchen, however, was remodeled recently before we moved in, and they used newer wood of course and painted it colors. Removing the paint would not do any good because the wood would be lighter, and is a thinner width than what goes throughout the rest of the house. The cabinets, however, do match the original darker wood in the house. I am wondering, can I paint this newer kitchen trim a brown color to match the rest of the natural woodwork in the house and the cabinets, or would this look bad?

Our home is beautiful with dark woodwork throughout the house. I have used shades of teals, browns, and a bit of carmel/straw color and with the dark wood accents, it looks beautiful. The furniture is Pottery Barn - mission style - with more modern accents (like from Pier 1). It is a mix of old and new, and the colors, accents, and strong furniture anchors blend well together to give our house a "homey" look.

The kitchen, however, is a different story. Cabinetry is dark to match the rest of the house, but the countertop is this ugly baby blue color! Replacing is not an option right now, and I do not want to get into painting the countertop. I know yellow works with blue, but I want something more exciting and different. I'm debating mixing some burgundy accents into the living room - could this go in the kitchen? I'm so proud of how the rest of the house looks, but I am not sure what I can do to incorporate this light blue countertop. The kitchen is small, but has a lot of trim as well. So I'm looking for both a wall color and a trim color. Then I can find rugs to pull it all together. Color schemes would be greatly appreciated, just don't suggest yellow or sea green "beach" themed colors as they would not go well with the rest of the house.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the doorbuster for the Pottery Barn Reindeer Collection will be this year - and which items it has been in the past. I am curious if the gravy boat or butter dish were limited to the day after Thanksgiving in previous years since they are so rare, so valuable, and they have not been reissued. If no one knows anything about this, does anyone know of a "underground" website dedicated to the Pottery Barn Reindeer Collection? Thanks so much!

I have a non-bootable hard drive from my laptop that I am trying to rescue files from. When I put it in the laptop, it says something about a boot error being detected. I have one of those USB things that you put a hard drive into to read on another computer, and my desktop recognizes it but just gives it "G:" name and won't open or read any files. What can I do? I'm not a moron with computers, but would need step by step assistance on trickier parts - maybe if someone is bored or lonely on this Friday night, they could maybe post their screen name (Yahoo!) so we can talk through Messenger?

I have a boneless, vacuum sealed, "jubilee ham with natural juices." I have never baked a ham before, and am not sure what to do exactly. It is already fully cooked, however I am wanting to cook it as long as possible so that it is super tender and falls apart similar to a perfectly cooked bone-in ham. How do I do this with a boneless ham? Please do not answer with recipies for glazes,etc...I only want directions as HOW to cook the ham - do I wash it first? Cover with foil or a lid or nothing? How much water in the pan? How often do you baste the juices over the top of the ham? How many hours to cook? (The package does not say the weight of the ham, but its pretty big.) The main thing I want is for the ham to cooked so that it "falls apart" when you serve it. Thanks for any help or advice!

It now extends across the front, stopping about two feet from a 6' or so vertical wall that leads to the drive and (basement level) garage. I am looking for something to fill the 2'x10' area between the deck and the wall - specifically, for a ground cover that will fill in quickly, preferably with white to match the existing landscape and style of the front of the house. The area will have full sun, and I have heard that snow-in-summer is a nice option (and pictures I have seen are very pretty).

How does snow-in-summer look in winter? If it will all die off/turn brown, I need something to put with it (like an evergreen ground cover to give some color/texture in winter). Any ideas for a pretty front landscape that perhaps pairs snow in summer with something else? Also, the 6' vertical wall would look nice if something could cascade a bit over it...I look forward to everyone's ideas. (I am in zone 5)

We are totally redoing the front of the house - all new landscaping, porch addition, new shutters, fresh paint on rails, etc...and we have ugly bright gold door knocker, mail slot, knob and dead bold. The bright gold doesn't go so well with the rest of the landscaping and such now, and instead of replacing it all, I wondered if there was a way I could brush on some metal paint or something that could change it to a brushed or antiqued copper or pewter look to soften down the screaming bright gold...anyone know how I could go about this?

I have a beautiful vine/red berry wreath that is great for winter, but I have no idea what to put up in warmer weather. I think the red berries look too "wintery" to leave up year-round. I don't care much for artificial flowers, becuase they tend to look so fake and plastic. I can't use fresh and replace when they die, because the front door has a full-glass screen door in front of it, and temperatures between the doors reach too high to allow fresh flowers to look good. I could use dried flowers I suppose, but am not even sure what "base" of wreath to use - I think grapevine and evergreen are too "wintery." I don't want something crafty-looking, but rather an elegant, sophisticated but very welcoming and inviting look. Any suggestions?

I have a yoplait light yogurt with a sell by date of June 20. Today is June 28. Normally I would assume its gone bad, but it says right on the container that the yogurt is good for 7 days beyond the sell by date - however, today is the 8th day. Would I be pushing my luck to eat it, or will one extra day not make a difference? I don't want to get sick, nor do I want to taste it if its gone bad/sour. Any advice?

I am in quite a dilemma here, and I need advice. My future mother-in-law was diagnosed with advanced cancer last week and has only been given 6-8 weeks to live. My fiance and my wedding is planned for October of this year (5 months from now). We both very much want his mother to be able to see us be married, but now we are afraid to wait until October for fear that something will happen. We are considering moving the wedding up, but to throw together a wedding and reception in 3 weeks or so is next to impossible, will leave much to be desired, and my guess is that many friends/family would not be able to come because of such short notice. Not to mention booking the caterer, photographer, DJ, finding a dress, etc. and booking a church and reception hall last minute in the midst of the busiest wedding season would be extremely difficult.

The only solution I have come up with that seems somewhat practical is to have a small "parents only" ceremony perhaps in a botanical garden...

I'm applying for a job that specifically says "apply in person. I am a recent college grad, and I have not had to apply for a job in person before. What should I expect? What should I bring? Is this just to drop off my resume or will I get interviewed? Will I meet the employer or the receptionist? I obviously know to dress nice and such, but I am unsure of what actually will take place during this application. Any advice would be great!
